Best Sega Genesis Games?
« on: January 04, 2021, 08:31:31 am »

My Dad just gave me my old Sega, it only has the first 2 Sonic games, Sonic Spinball, Frogger, Ms. Pac Man, Lion King, and a Mickey Mouse game. I have it set up for my own son to play with me; what are some of the best games for the system I could try to find?
I guess priority would be games for my son; he's 5 and just getting into gaming (he loves the Mickey game even though he's terrible at it). Either kids games or 2 player games for both of us. I'll play it too though so if there are any super cool classics I missed let me know. Thanks patient gamers!

Mortal Kombat and the Streets of Rage series are stress relieving fighting games. Comix Zone and Contra: Hard Corps are both very challenging and nearly impossible to beat. Earthworm Jim and Toejam & Earl have some of the best music. If you like movie based games, Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park were both pretty good.

Either kids games or 2 player games for both of us.

This is what I recommend : World of Illusion !!!! (right on the pic)

It's a 2 player game,  playing this with my kid a lot when he's 4 years old.
He's now 10 years old and more into Minecraft and Roblox,
but sometimes once a month we play this game together just for nostalgia sake.

Also my other recommendation
For your kid : Ecco Jr, Sesame Street: Counting Cafe, Tanglewood, Mickey's Ultimate Challenge
For you : Shinobi 3, Streets of Rage 2, Phantasy Star IV, Aladdin, Quack Shot

I loved playing Mortal Kombat, Streets of Rage 2 and Sonic. I remember how much time I've spent on this console and I still have a small collection of these games I haven't touched for at leat 15 years. I'm in Europe and I'm just keeping them. Soon I want to go back to these games and show to my kids when they will be interested in games :)

Best genesis games for kids?

Richard Scarry's Busytown and Mickey's Ultimate Challenge are good for kids.
They are funny and have various gameplay based on logic and remembering.

There is also Thomas: The Tank Engine, solid but it's not as good as mobile version.
Barney's Hide And Seek is bad, the game is too simple. Avoid it.

I forgot about Richard Scarry's Busytown.
My kids love that game too back then.
They always laugh when playing as wind and the cat guy's screaming, "The wind is blowing my hat !!!"
Really recommended for kids.

I remember being a huge fan of Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness & Pokémon Box: Ruby and Sapphire. I think these pokemon games are as goOd as the GBA era ones like Pokemon emerald & Pokemon platinum.
