Yes, we still have a forum.

An interview with chief producer Seiji Aoki from Sega :“Nothing has been decided yet regarding Virtua Fighter 6, so I cannot make any statement. But if you ask me whether I want to create it or not, I do want to create it.”“This title (Ultimate Showdown) will let us know whether there are demands and potentials for Virtua Fighter. We want to hype it up so it can connect to the next one.”
It’s clear Harada took his self-imposed rivalry to heart. But when Sega stopped releasing new Virtua Fighter games after 2007’s Virtua Fighter 5, he felt he had no one else in the 3D fighting game space to compete against. Watching high-profile Virtua Fighter competitors—now without a new game to move on to—migrate to Tekken gave him an “indescribable feeling” of disappointment.
Tweek also moved Sonic up to S-tier. The blue hedgehog is often placed in B-tier, but the Wolf and Pokemon Trainer player said on his podcast that Sonic has the "best win condition in the game." Tweek explained that once Sonic has the lead on an opponent, Sonic players can simply just run around and hold onto the win since most opponents can't chase him down.
That's kind of like saying that there should be a sequel to Primal Rage or that Final Fantasy Games should have a one on one fighting mode option. All nice ideas, but it's cheaper and safer for gaming companies to not go those routes.
It might be too late for VF5 to have that story mode, but hopefully VF6 could have one.
