I might consider moving to the UK to get a more stable full-time employment. Things are just not going well...

Humm.. I feel the need to advise you not to.
Half of my family lives in the UK. They work like dogs to get "much more money" than they did in Portugal, yet they are living in worse conditions and have next to zero buying power.
Also, they have shit jobs, and live in shit houses where they shove all the immigrants.

If you seriously consider moving to the UK, expect to have the kind of life Ukrainians have in Portugal but in a less friendly environment.

I don't know, maybe you'll be successful there..  But don't bet on it..

Although you have some points regarding the UK, but the less friendly environment isn't one of them.

Like everywhere...it all depends on where you live.

Portugese, Romanians and Maltans are pretty much welcomed here with open arms generally because the UK have no bad history between those countries...

The weather isn't great here, but that doesn't make the UK a place with a worse condition then say...France or Italy.

The wage thing I have to agree and disagree on...every country is struggling and it all depends on your class (I am of working class btw), saying about working like dogs even applies to us natives you know? In fact, foreigners have a better chance at getting a roof over their heads then us!

Since the government would rather treat foreigners with something moreso then the people who still live here.

I'm not recommending max_cady to work here, since it's not great here either...but don't mention the bad parts of the UK without mentioning the good parts to it also.

Health care is better here regardless of what others say, and since you get it free whether you work or not should be something to be encouraged. If I had to live in any other country, I would need to be insured...and since I am already poor, I wouldn't be able to afford the insurance.

Anyway, max_cady, I would say to have a look at New Zealand (I am thinking about going there one day), as it seems like a good country to start again...sunshine, a similar healthcare to the UK, natives who are friendly no matter where you come from, and it provides many job opportunities!

You could say Austrailia is the same...but you need to be under 40, have $100,000 in the bank to support you AND you need a few checks in your records to make sure you are okay to live in Australia...if you even have a blemish on your record, you will not likely get in...

Nameless, I wasn't (at least it wasn't my intention) talking trash about the UK. But I was comparing some points with life in Portugal.

Portuguese people are usually very emotionally tied with the weather and some simple but unique cultural details.
Mos portuguese people drink a very short and strong coffee (we call it a "bica") for example. It's the most basic thing here, and absolutely impossible to get in the UK.

You may think that is a bullshit example of something so minute, but it extends to everything.
The UK has a constant rainy weather, and generally people aren't as friendly as Portuguese folks. Mainly because of the high crime levels and overall lack of confidence in your neighbors (I'm talking from my family's experience).

Housing in the UK is the most expensive in Europe (bar Monaco) while Portugal has some of the cheapest housing in the developed world. And the construction in the UK is inferior as well.

The UK government gives money-troubled emigrants a shit ton of benefits and charities, but you won't be able to maintain the same lifestyle you would have with an equal job in Portugal.
"lifestyle" is in bold because in the UK people have MUCH MUCH more money. But they spend much much more as well.

You can't get a full 6 giant picanha steak meal with exotic fruit and fries for 3ppl for 15 euros in the UK.

Portugal has some of the best healthcare as well. Problem is, since we're short on doctors, unless you have some major condition, it's very slow.
UK's car insurance is pants. Fucking pants. Even worse for foreigners who have no credit to begin with.

The UK has more opportunities to have money and living a more consumerist life. That's why Portuguese people who go there get fascinated even with lesser lifestyles. Some people love living fast.

But ultimately life's hard everywhere at the moment.
Portugal is in the shitter. Politics are hitting the fan, and the economy is pants on head retarded. But it's still our home country you know.. And I'm still proud of that.

I've heard a lot of good stuff from New Zealand and have thought of starting my life there.. But it's really far.

lol, it's no worries dude. I don't think you'd insult the UK without good reason (and I have my own as well).

Interesting...maybe should I visit Portugal I should try this out?

I guess I am privileged that despite my poor background, our neighbours aren't that bad (and they are friendly despite their...ahem...shady tactics).

Depends what you mean by high crime though...it depends on the area you live in. Overall, crime rates are just above average...but again it depends on the areas of the UK...

Yeah, prices here are ridiculous, but I slightly disagree with the inferior housing...it's basic, yes, but it's mostly reliable...and I would say (without offending anyone), that it's better then some US areas with worse structure.

I see...I can't disagree with that, we do spend more money...but it depends on where you spend it I guess...being on a Welfare State like ours is bad in terms of not getting people to work (native or foreign).

We have specialist stores for that dude, you can't blame the UK for that type of stuff, no offence of course. :P

I agree there, someone I know said how effective paracetamol was over there!

Agreed again, I don't like the state of Car Insurance here...but I got lucky because I looked on the internet for the best deal.

Fair enough, I wouldn't deter anyone from coming over here, but I will point out the downsides of living in England. Sharky has one up over me in terms of Tax for example..you are best living on an island that belongs to the UK for lesser tax.

I am sorry to hear that dude...I know what you mean about being patriotic though! I have little knowledge to know how bad Portugal is, so it's interesting to know from you.

Far? The world is connected by the internet dude! The world is getting smaller in terms of communication...just be warned that electronic prices there are so high...you are best taking your systems with you and hoping for a current converter (I would be fine in that regard, I recall them using the UK Plug Pins).

Did you know that the Dutch found New Zealand first? Zealand is an area in the Netherlands, it seems we took it from them...which is pretty cruel, lol.

"Use of the "n" word and posting a picture of a dick in mid blow?"

WHERE HAVE I BEEN

Nameless,
I think you'd love coming to Portugal.. Most people do :)

About crime.. Well, I was there during the London bombings. Pretty intense stuff seeing machine-gun-armed cops running my way closing down the street xD I could go on about other stuff my family tells me about, but it's besides the point.. I'm glad my country is never under attack, and most crimes are petty robberies or failed bank hostage situations.

Housing in the UK isn't all that bad (it depends from place to place of course), but if you ever come to Portugal I guarantee you'll be amazed at the sheer quality of the average habitation here (something most people here unfortunately take for granted and don't value much)

Oh yeah, taxes in Portugal right now are off the charts. Literally 50% of a worker's earnings are tax. Same thing with cars: 10k car costs 20k (10k tax). Signs of the economical crisis going on right now.

I did not know that! Colonial times were fucked up bro! Portugal also screwed with most of Africa and America back then

Thinking about how Super Smash Bros. is inspired by a Namco game called The Outfoxies and it makes a more interesting twist to Namco-Bandai developing the next two Smash Bros games.

Yeah... and I have a test Thursday. So I would have to find the time to study during this week.

Right now, I'm thinking about Fighting Vipers right now.

OK, I've finally gone bonkers!

I bought a used PS2 from GAME and I ordered Yazuka 1 and DOA 2 off Amazon. One thing I will say is that... Wow, the PS2 slim model is so small, you can almost mistake it for a docking station.

I enjoy any country I go to, but I guess Portugal is on my wishlist in this case!

Maybe because no one thinks Portugal is somewhere to make headline news I guess, which is a good thing.

My boss has a villa there so I'm sure it's better overall (and sunshine too).

Wow...that's messed up!

I see, that's interesting to know.

Also, my thoughts on LoZ: LttP (almost beat it). Finding everything is pretty hard unless you use a visual guide (I did btw). Even moreso then Super Metroid!

I am struggling on the boss...who thought it was a good idea to light up the fires and then changing to your arrows when you hit the boss with your sword?!? If I lose my magic keeping the fires up then I am screwed and have to start all over again....it's complete BS!
