Those NDS remakes were only good for small screen.
And the current graphics for RPG Makers is more suited for fifth gen consoles, but they keep doing like that.

It's kinda good for indie game developers since they are usually consists few people and sometimes only one person.
3D version of Final Fantasy games are almost impossible to do it alone.

I mean... yeah. RPG Maker allows for custom sprites that can be done in any art program. Even MSPaint.

Just saying it be nice to work with something more... 3D. Not asking for high-end or modern, just enough to stand out a bit more.

Those look like pics from 3D era of PS1/Saturn before Grandia / FFIX came along..
I'd prefer Genesis/SNES-like 2D arts than those but I guess taste differs.

It be nice to have variety level of graphics. I understand that would limit custom content, just be nice to have it.
Or the very least 2D and 3D like Grandia.

Grandia (Saturn) is actually kinda hard to recreate.
Even when they ported to PS1, the graphic already suffered and loses its charm.
Grandia (Saturn) has a 3D world with sprite-based characters, but in battles they use a bitmap for the background, because this lets them do 3D transparency over the 2D environment without issues, due to peculiarities of the Saturn hardware.
The PS1 has a nicer effect for getting into battle, but once there has a lower res texture for the battle map, and the zooms aren’t as expressive, whereas the saturn texture is higher res and because of the odd jagginess of it better mimics the 3D environments you walk around in.
Right now it'll be easier to go all 3D than combining both 2D and 3D.
