I think my initial speculation and barry's thoughts may be true

Wow this is some amazing news. Castle of illusion is a game very dear to me. Hope they'll be able to capture its magic if its a remake

I don't think there's any doubt of it being a remake if they bothered making a CG teaser and a new box art for it.
