Centrale, it has been taken that turn since Yakuza 2 when Hase Seishū, a novelist, left the Yakuza project and he was replaced with Masayoshi Yokoyama in Yakuza 3. Every game Masayoshi Yokoyama makes the characters more and more over the top and it seems to work in the Japanese market but I loved the dark and gritty undertones that Hase Seishū had. While the games are still great, Seishū was a better writer imo. Yakuza 2 has the best story of the bunch.
