Takenobu Mitsuyoshi Interview
« on: December 13, 2010, 09:03:50 pm »
Scored an interview with the man himself, Shenmue's main composer Takenobu Mitsuyoshi.

Full thing going up soon, I'm talking to him as I type this. Any fan requests as to what to ask?

I can't think of any good questions, but Shenmue had one of the most moving scores I've ever heard. And that's not limited to video games.

Oh man, that is brilliant. Cannot wait to read it!

I have a few questions.

- There are rumors he is working on a third From Loud 2 Low, any truth in this?
- Why has he not worked on too many Sonic games overall?
- Did he ever want to work on the Ryu ga Gotoku games? What kinds of songs would he make?
- Why does he not make Virtua Fighter music anymore?
- How does he choose the songs he remixes for SEGA?
- What are some SEGA games he wanted to make the soundtrack for but could not/did not?

I cannot think of any more, you should have sprung this on us earlier!

Everyone wish him a happy birthday too, his birthday is on Christmas day!

@Sega Uranus: He actually did the ending credit song for VF5R/FS.

Of course your probably talking about the soundtrack in general and I too would like to know.

* What is his favorite song he has gotten to sing/compose for a Sega game?

* Does he play the games he composes songs for? If so which is his favorite?

That's all I got for now but I'll get more questions later. I am super hyped to hear from the legendary Takenobu Mitsuyoshi!

So what was Yuzo Koshiro doing if he's the main composer?

From what I remember 5 men were credited.

There are at least five big contributors to the Shenmue soundtrack: Koshiro, Mitsuyoshi, Osamu Murata, Toshiyuki Watanabe and Hayato Matsuo, plus other artists, but I'm a little confused about their actual role...

I didn't get a chance to finish, but we did talk a lot about the roles of the many names credited in the games and soundtracks.

He didn't do much for Shenmue II or many other SEGA games because he currently is doing a lot of work in the arcade division. He did most of his work in Shenmue I.

I have a ton of questions to ask, from what happened to Wavemaster to if there was ever a Shenmue II soundtrack, if he ever worked on Shenmue Online, and all of the questions I get from here and Shenmue Dojo. Keep the questions coming!
