HAHHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Oh my, the responses on the first page are absolutely hilarious. Seems like he was doing some advertising for both Kartel and Borderlands there.

Well in any event, I don't dislike the guy or anything (even if he liked Sex and the City) but it really seemed he had no clue about video games whatsoever (didn't know that games could come on more than one disc, thought that Halo was the first Original FPS, and thought that Sims was the most brilliant 'strategy' game ever...)

Here is where one of the admins caught him out, via info on Lees website:

Quote
"WHAT WE DO

What we do is help enrich your current outreach efforts with community programs that develop a two way dialogue with gamers. We engage gaming fans on a deeper level. We help convert awareness into interest. And we are darn good at it, with results as much as 150% better once our programs have been implemented."

I think your website needs an update after this thread. A simple "-" mark before the percentage would suffice.

I lol'd.

Oh lawd, so Kartel was basically a Viral Marketing portal for game companies? No wonder they had hook-ups for Inflatable Swords and Sega Rally Mouse-mats. Cash for Comments!

WAIT WAIT WAIT!

From his site bios:
Quote
CEO and PRESIDENT - Master Lee
Master Lee has 15 years of game industry experience and had held executive level positions at such companies as Sega, Konami, and THQ. While John most recently oversaw the successful relaunch of the Hudson Entertainment (a Konami subsidiary) games publishing unit, his roots are in game development. He created his first game when he was in 5th grade, and was once a national collegiate video game champion. Since breaking into the gaming industry, Master Lee had the distinct privilege of contributing to over 7 Game of the Year products on console, PC, handheld and even mobile. Back in 1999, he launched a social networking company, which was later successful acquired by a public company. He now enjoys being a catalyst in mixing gaming with social media. What he is a MASTER of hasn’t been fully understood, but we figure that it probably wasn’t that flattering to begin with.

Really? how much of this is true?... I'm willing to bet very little.

Oh wow... I don't like to be rude, but... also from his business site
http://www.bardoentertainment.com/about.htm

Our approach is pioneering and ambitious. We are a group of entertainment industry veterans who had an Eureka! moment when we combined our expertise in video games, social networking, and digital media. We’d go into more detail of the secret formula, but you would need an advanced degree in overly complicated formulas just to understand, so take solace in that all you need to know is that we are committed to delivering results.

Complicated formula?

1) Buy Sega fansite.
2) Piss off every regular poster and writer by ruining the site until they all leave.
3) ????
4) Profit!

Seriously, I knew I didn't like the Kartel before, but to think that it's basically just an excercise in hocking sponsor's games makes me sad. Shame that the SegaNerds name is still being soiled by it.

EDIT: Sharky Posted while I was.

How the hell does someone who never heard of games coming on more than one disc before Mass FUCKING Effect 2 make his own games at age 9, launch games that are best sellers, or argadgouadgjnsgagsghartfuckthisbullshit
WHAT THE FUCK!? The man thought Halo was the first ever 'Epic and original' First Person Shooter!

I... I... Don't know what to say. Kind of reminds me of the time G hired that girl simply because she was a girl, but she grew up as a Nintendo fan...

But this is worse, way worse.

This NeoGaf poster (SecretBonusPoints) nailed it

How much of this is bullshit?

Bizarrely completely unheard of Sega, Konami, THQ and Hudson exec, videogames champion, forefront father of social networking and worked on 7 GOTY's supposedly now resorting to viral marketing fucking Borderlands on NeoGAF? Teamed up with a Wallstreet billionaire of course and can't afford a website beyond the offerings of an eager DeviantArt teenage sex-slave?

I have a strong urge to plaster this all over the Kartel forums now, incase there is anyone there who isn't a personal friend of John, or just posting to grab free stuff.

To be fair, it popularized FPS on consoles and turned it into the mega-genre that it is today.

For home consoles of course.

Nobody read any of that stuff though.

Arguably, it was the catalyst in making FPS very popular on Console, but to say it's the first ever FPS that was original or epic is just wrong any way you slice it.
