Just finished ICO.
« on: March 12, 2011, 09:03:54 pm »
For the first time... Played it before a LONG time ago when it came out in fact but I don't have the patience for baby sitting so gave up pretty quickly.

Saw it yesterday in a second hand store for just £2 which was a steal, bought it, sat down today and finished it in 1 sitting...

Yep, 9 and a half hours of pure vidya gamin.

Pretty good, enjoyed it... The atmosphere was what kept me going. The atmosphere reminds me a lot of Panzer Dragoon, so fantastic. Complaints would be the repeating rooms and bland samey textures... Baby sitting the girl was a bit of a hassle but the AI isnt bad.

The game could have used a lot more 'secrets' and just things to find and collect along the way...

Anyway, enjoyed it a lot... Another 'Zelda like' game that I like a HELL of a lot more then any Zelda game I've played.

I'm holding out for the ICO/SOTC double pack before I play these.

PAL ICO seems to go for around £20-£30 on Ebay... I did good.

No doubt it was a nice find, but I'm just saying I'm gonna wait it out and get it on PS3.

Ah, I wasn't suggesting anything, just reporting my find on ebay.

Finished SotC a few years ago now... Very good game, prefered it to Ico although again, very barron and samey at times.

The guys behind ICO, sotC and the upcoming the last guardian are one of a kind. I haven't finished shadow of the collosus because my ps2 broke quickly after I finished the shitty kingdom hearts 2 (I loved the 1st). The game defenitly has a panzer dragoon vibe to it. For a ps2 game sotc looked beautiful, animated so fluidly that even next gen games look stiff next to sotC. I recently got a ps3, like mademang, defenitly buying the pack and try out ICO.

ICO as a game, is one of the most overrated I have played. It is just bare bones and has no real redeeming features from game design perspectives and uses weird shitty bloom effects to hide that the graphics suck. As an "Experience", it is pretty cool indeed, but has no replay value and is not worth much more than what Sharky paid.

Shadow of the Colossus was also overrated out the ass and had horrible glitches, but I thought it had some brilliant moments (13th boss wowoweewah) and the music was just phenomenal.

I can see where people are coming with the Panzer Dragoon connections, but those games had great design on all fronts, Team ICO games are overbudgeted and overstaffed artsy fartsy games designed by ego driven dinguses who make them specifically for people who like to think they have better taste than everyone else in games.

I find no satisfaction in these games. I must be broken.

I loved Ico to death, but didn't enjoy it as much during a replay, as I knew all the puzzles and what was to come. It really is a play once title.

I bought Shadow of Colossus a month ago, but have yet to get into it.

I have both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus and they are excellent. Going through and playing them again is always a joy.
