Well, the more I keep playing Final Fantasy 13, the more it's flaws become very evident in and of itself.
Don't get me wrong, the visuals are stunning, the combat system is pretty good and has a ton of variety, the way you level up is also pretty interesting and refreshing. But for every step foward this game makes in the JRPG genre, a few things feel like a huge step back. Two things bother me, at this point, the first very obvious issue, it's level design, that is, there is none, this is the laziest design ever, walk through a narrow corridor which might feature one or two detours at most to pick up an item or two and when you get to that point, it's either cutscene and boss encounter or just cutscene, in which case, more walking is required.
Not really an issue, because th story, albeit with terrible dialogue still manages to get pretty interesting enough to keep me wanting to know what happens next.
Now, the one thing that irks me, is the way the gameplay is being presented to you, don't bother reading the actual instruction manual, because all of the stuff you read there will only be available to you when the game actually requires you to do something at that point in time.
Basically you are being given the full gameplay in very small doses and on a need-to-know basis as if the game designers wanted to dumb down the experience as much as possible. The first hours of gameplay are a bit dull because you are basically on auto-pilot.
