I was playing Ninja Gaiden and The Witcher, but now someone at work has thrown down the gauntlet for me to finish LA Noire. I'm planning to do a marathon run this weekend and try to knock it over. It's supposed to be really good as well, so keen to try it out!

EDIT: Called off my plans for LA Noire'ing, I would rather finish Witcher and Ninja Gaiden first. It's not bad or anything but I feel like i'm not going to enjoy it if I'm playing it like I am.

Also the driving and fighting is shit-house.

I just got Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and I've been going through arcade mode with all four of the new characters. They're all pretty fun to play as, although I would say my favorite of the bunch is probably Yang. The only downside is there are no rival battle cutscenes. (Those were one of my favorite reasons for playing arcade mode.)Overall though, it's a fun pack for $15. I'm enjoying it! =)

I got that yesterday as well, haven't had much chance to play it yet, but it seems really good. New Oni and Evil Ryu seem deceptively original too.

I've already finished the first hour of Final Fantasy 13 and here's my impressions thus far...

[spoiler:m16lcnaj].I'm gonna have a real hard time establishing the differences between the various L'Cie types;
.FF13 doesn't quite feel like an RPG,feels more like a straight-up action game;
.About the characters, Fazh makes Chris Tucker sound butch, some of Snow's teammates have the worst dialogue ever uttered during an intense shootout and is it just me or does Vanille's accent keep changing?[/spoiler:m16lcnaj]

I felt that way about Mass Effect 2. The first game is so much better in my opinion.

I have so many issues with the game, the stupid malaria medicine, the constant checkpoints I have to shoot my way through..... I really don't know why I keep playing it.

Then don't.

I just finished playing Ninja Gaiden. Awesome game, made me rage like crazy at some tough points but the last few fights were surprisingly easy.

@max_cady:
[spoiler:pcb8faz7]There's basically two types. The ones from Cocoon (where everyone lives), and the ones from Pulse (the outer realm that's basically forbidden territory).
The game takes a while to get into this stuff, but basically the fal'Cie are the "gods" of the FFXIII universe. L'Cie are the people that get branded by them to perform a certain mission. If they manage to pull off the task, they turn into crystal, with the possibility of waking up from that state. If they fail, then they get turned into monsters. So basically L'Cie are cursed, but they can use magic.
It's very much set up like a straight up action game. But that's pretty deliberate. The battle system is probably the fastest I've ever used in any RPG. You get quite a few options, and the game makes sure to spend a good chunk of time showing you all the different ways to fight before opening up the whole system to you. It's more about directing the fight, than picking individual actions. You have to be really quick though.

A good chunk of the characters come across a bit odd at the beginning (I really didn't care for Hope at the start), but they all grow quite a bit over the course of the game, and they're all pretty likable in the end.
Vanille's got a more Australian-ish accent because she's from somewhere different than the rest of the main cast.

Hope some of this helps out.[/spoiler:pcb8faz7]Personally, I've been playing through X-Men Origins: Wolverine on PS3. It's pretty fun so far. Spamming the dive move is good times.

For some reason I feel the urge to play it, but there is just so much that bothers me about the game. I cannot put my finger on it, but I want to finish it. Might just be because I already spent money on it and as such am 'invested'.

Well, the more I keep playing Final Fantasy 13, the more it's flaws become very evident in and of itself.
Don't get me wrong, the visuals are stunning, the combat system is pretty good and has a ton of variety, the way you level up is also pretty interesting and refreshing. But for every step foward this game makes in the JRPG genre, a few things feel like a huge step back. Two things bother me, at this point, the first very obvious issue, it's level design, that is, there is none, this is the laziest design ever, walk through a narrow corridor which might feature one or two detours at most to pick up an item or two and when you get to that point, it's either cutscene and boss encounter or just cutscene, in which case, more walking is required.

Not really an issue, because th story, albeit with terrible dialogue still manages to get pretty interesting enough to keep me wanting to know what happens next.

Now, the one thing that irks me, is the way the gameplay is being presented to you, don't bother reading the actual instruction manual, because all of the stuff you read there will only be available to you when the game actually requires you to do something at that point in time.

Basically you are being given the full gameplay in very small doses and on a need-to-know basis as if the game designers wanted to dumb down the experience as much as possible. The first hours of gameplay are a bit dull because you are basically on auto-pilot.

@max_cady: It's pretty slow to unlock bits of the battle system, but the end result has a ton of depth. Stick in there :).
I think there probably would've been a lot less complaints about the linearity of the level design if the map wasn't always visible to give it away. I mean, it's no more of a guided straight-line experience than say Bayonetta or Uncharted, but those games do a better job of hiding it.

Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins on the Caanoo. Great little portable game. Bosses are rather easy, and it's a short game, but I'm enjoying it. Just two more golden coins to go!
