Summer Movie Trailer Thread
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:57:05 am »
Summer movie season is coming!

So I figured rather than trailers cropping up in random topics, we could post and discuss trailers pertaining to upcoming summer movies here. This is all purely speculation and discussion of movies that have yet to be released. Keep impressions on movies you've seen confined to this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24

What is to come this summer? A lot of stuff! Comic book movies, many from Marvel, big comedies, animated movies, sequels of sequels and sequels of sequels that are in themselves sequels!

Here are two trailers that recently cropped up:

HP Deathly Hallows Part 2 sneak peek:

Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides trailer:

Looking forward to these two. Harry potter is looking to be an awesome conclusion. I reread the book after seeing part 1, and I can't wait to see all the action that will be crammed into part 2. Gringotts, lots of battles and a final confrontation. It'll be awesome.

Pirates 4 probably won't knock my socks off, but I'm glad they trimmed the fat and made this fourth film a stand alone adventure. Hopefully it is more like the first and less like the complicated sequels.

There's no full length trailer for Captain America yet and that film is probably the one I'm most looking forward to this summer. Here are another two I'm really anticipating.

This film looks really interesting, and I like the mystery that is in this trailer.

Of course I'm really excited for this one!  The new footage of the Destroyer armor is really sweet.

With Thor and Cap America coming out, I completely forgot about Green Lantern.

Not really looking forward to it, as I was never a fan of the comic. I only read the first issue, so it probably has nothing to do with the movie, considering how many years occurred between then and now. I assume by the time I see the Marvel movies, I'll have had enough superhero movies for one summer.

Seeing how Harry Potter is the highest grossing films of all times and went on for 7 movies, I think 'The Wheel of Time' has a chance of doing more than one movie deal. I mean, 13 books, would be awesome for 13 movies. A tad too long for audiences imo. Maybe 8. Lots of sub plots that could be skipped over.

Ah, dreams.

Summer 2012 wins the cake so far, at least Comic book wise. Batman Dark Knight Rising and Sin City 2. Also new Superman and Spiderman.

2011 has Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol (no trailer yet) and...

Odd movie to make a sequel to... in the summer full of CGI giants. Could be refreshing.

I'm really looking forward to Hangover 2. I was one of those who liked it before it was cool to like it. :-|

I thought the cinematography was excellent, which is rare for comedies which usually go for the bland point and shoot approach. Also liked the mystery of the whole thing and how the whole crazy night slowly unraveled. Also, I'm a fan of Zach. Again, I liked him before it was cool to like him.

I caught the first disc of the first season, twas entertaining, though I've yet to finish the series. I liked the  Jim Jarmusch episode the most.

Ah. To be honest I only really care about Sin City and the Batman movie. :D Not really into Marvel movies, the way they are put together I can't take seriously.

Am I the only one that wants to see a movie based on 'Youngblood' franchise? That and Preacher, Spawn, Sandman and Maxx. :)

I was looking forward to Avengers, until Ed Norton dropped out. :( Way to keep continuity Mah-vel!!! Still, if Thor and Cap. USA are good, then I'll definitely check it out opening weekend. I just hope they make a good movie after the years of setting it up. Oh yeah, and a reference to Spider-Man or something would be quite cool.
