Sonic Black Knight Intro
« on: May 04, 2011, 10:52:58 pm »
Saw this on Neogaf,
[youtube:3fi60brn]rYqdaXvybyg[/youtube:3fi60brn]

I have to say, this is a really good intro for an otherwise terrible game. I love the way Sonic moves in a cartoony mannor, I love even more that they incorporated his love for chillidogs and the CGI is amazing!

The dark, fantasy setting on the otherhand is silly as shit and I hate it but if Sonic was doing exactly what he does here in a normal Sonic enviroment with out the silly fantasy characters and setting it would be an awesome CGI scene.

Also, i suggest watching the video on mute, Had Sonic been completely mute you'd have still understood everything that was going on through his actions. I wish they kept him pretty much mute and he communicated with very little words, grunts and actions.

Visually its nice looking but still a terrible intro for a sonic game imo. Also yeah, glad we've gone past the lAme stories and bad VA's

i don't agree with you here Sharky

this is one of the worst intros ever in a sonic game along with sonic heroes intro. even visually you can't even compare the Quality with anything was done before it like Unleashed , secret rings and even sonic06!
i am sure it wasn't done by the same guys who did all those marvelous CGs

EDIT:
yup it's wasn't done by the same people

First of all, lol, Sonic and the Black Knight is an AWFUL game. Made Sonic '06 look like a good time.

That said, the storytelling was really fun. Even the comic book style cutscenes were MILES ahead of Secret Rings's.

Sonic and the Black Knight is NOT worse then Sonic 06. If you think this, you have lost your way. Sonic with a sword = bad ideas. Levels are designed shitty.

But you know what? Sonic dark emo story line is worse, shitty levels that split with loading times is worse and loading, loading loading is worse. Not to mention all the glitches and s hit that doesn't work.

If you think this game is worse, lol. Really...

I've beaten both games, dude. Twice in Sonic '06's case. At least in Sonic '06 you have the potential to learn the levels and actually have a degree of fun playing (some of) them.

Sonic and the Black Knight lacks a single fun level. I'm not even kidding. There's not even 1 level that's worth replaying in any sense. The sword kills any sense of speed, just like Knuckles did in Sonic Heroes, if you were forced to use Knuckles 100% of the time.

The "emo" storyline isn't a deal-breaker and the  cutscenes could be skipped if they bothered you. Black Knight's gameplay could not be skipped. It's impossible to pick up speed when the game GENERATES enemies right in your path at a constant rate.

Not saying Sonic '06 was a good game, it sucked as well, but it had much more to offer. And as you get near the end of Black Knight you'd see that its level design is just as bad, if not much worse, than anything you'd find in Sonic '06.

Hey Sonic 06 had awesome levels if nothing else.

It is hard to choose a favorite Radical Train, Kingdom Valley, Crisis Zone.

Other levels were nice and worth replaying as well such as Dusty Desert, Tropical Jungle, Wave Ocean.

Crisis Core, Solaris (time travel stage), Ice stage all sucked though.

For those who have mastered Black Knight it is an amazing game, the level design and stuff doesn't matter cause you can finish the level in less than 3 mins, my lil 9 year old cuz was so good at that game he defeated Arthur in less than a minute.

Thinking about it Kingdom Vally and Crisis City would be pretty fun with SA2 Physics and Controls.

The part where your running vertical on those castles in Kingdom Valley is one of my favorite sections in the whole game!

I've gotta be clear on this, though. I'm not defending Sonic '06. I've disagreed with Cube many times about this, lol, but Sonic '06 had absolutely shit level designs. In almost every sense of the word.

That said, once you commit to memory levels like Kingdom Valley, Flame Core, Dusty Desert, and Tropical Jungle, you can go through them pretty quickly and actually have some fun. Some fun. There's some great music in there and the visuals have a very Sonic Adventure-like art design.

Sonic and the Black Knight just doesn't allow for any fun. Levels are all very short, have no speed, and are pretty much impossible to enjoy. I found almost nothing redeemable about the game whatsoever.

SOnic 06 had broken ass levels and they all sucked. None of them where really that great designed either. At least Black Knight felt a bit complete.

I enjoyed what I played of Sonic and the Black Knight and I would have to disagree about speed. There are quite a few stages in the game that are quite fast.

I gotta agree with Nsega. While sonic 06 was broken and all that, I had some actual fun with the stages. Black knight, while finished, was a horrible experience from start to finish. Some would say that sonic labyrinth for the game gear was the worst sonic game, i'd pick SATBK for that title.

Black Knight certainly wasn't as glitchy but when the majority of the levels clock in at around 60 seconds, it's easy to smooth things out, I guess.

If I was stuck on a desert island and had to pick between Sonic '06 and Black Knight as a game I'd bring and have to play, I'd definitely go for Sonic '06.

Plus, the music was better.
