VIdeo Game Survey (for the sake of fun!)
« on: May 16, 2011, 01:52:03 pm »
So I had a number of questions bumping around in my head that I wanted forum members to answer. If you could take a few minutes to answer these, it would be greatly appreciated. The resulting data will be used for nothing, I just want to hear people's answers.

What is the worst game you own?

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?

What is the hardest game you've played?

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?

What video game do you not own, but want the most?

What is the worst game you own?

Sonic 2006. I also believe it to be the single worst game ever created, so there.

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?
Panzer Dragoon Saga, PAL edition in good nick with the cardboard sleeve. It was over $250 AUD. Worth it.

Distant runner up would probably be Dragon Force on Saturn, which cost me $140 or thereabouts. Again, PAL in near flawless condition.

Of games that I've owned since new, I could say Burning Rangers, Guardian Heroes, Michael Jackson: Moonwalker (it was expensive when he died at least), Marvel vs Capcom 2 on XBox (Not sure about now, but it used to go for over $100 as the production on the PS2/XBox port was cut short due to Capcom losing the license).

What is the hardest game you've played?

Hmm, the toughest I can think of now is God Hand on PS2. That game was crazy difficult at some points, but I managed to beat it (only just, and on normal...). I also have Darius 2 on Sega Saturn (is that another rare one?) and that was hard, but I find all shmups to be stupidly hard.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?
Here's a shortlist of some cool stuff
House of the Dead: Overkill VHS & T-shirt:

(NOt mine, but it's this thing)

Bayonetta Playing Cards
*Pics to come*

Super Scribblenauts Magnet Press Kit
*Pics to come*

Sega Dreamcast Wristwatch

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?[/b][/color]
Xbox 360 (old), Xbox 360 (New+Kinect), PStripple, PSdubble, Dreamcast (borken), Saturn, Wii.

OG Xbox is in my room but not plugged in, ditto the Mega Drive.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?
nope.jpg

What video game do you not own, but want the most?

Sega's Fonz.

Seriously though, not much I can really think of that I want in terms of classic games at the moment. I have my most desired games now (Shining Force III Trilogy, Panzer Saga and Shenmoooooo)

What is the worst game you own?

Rampage: World Tour on PSN (which I do like a bit). I do not buy games I am not sure if I would like or not, and have given away or sold ones I am not overly fond of.

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?

I am not too sure on this, but I think in a few years my DeathSmiles Collector's Edition will be worth good/decent money. I got out of collecting a few years ago and do not regret most of it outside of selling basically all of my Nintendo stuff and putting my trust in people with a lot of my Saturn and Master System stuff.

What is the hardest game you've played?

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label. I love CAVE, but that game was made by the the most evil people in the world.

[youtube:3mauvp4k]JYv1VnFvefQ[/youtube:3mauvp4k]

This is the first level.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?

I got out of collecting awhile ago, so most of what I have is fairly basic. I am picky with spending large amounts of money too, but I have always wanted to get some figures based off of games I like.

So... Maybe the Dreamcast keyboard? Weak, I know.

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?

I have all of my consoles unplugged when I do not use them because I am cheap. Most of what I have is all but ready to be played except my Wii and Genesis/SEGA CD. With the later I usually play those games on emulators now and it looks nicer on the top of my shelf anyways.

So basically just my PlayStation 3 and Dreamcast which are in one room, and my Xbox 360 in another. I plan to get another Saturn again soon, but I keep holding off on that.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?

No, and while that would be pretty nice, I do not really see the point of me owning something like that. I would like to get my future copy of Duke Nukem Forever signed by George Broussard, the guy who kept the project going all those years though. I would specifically request him to spell his name wrong, like he did in one of the games he made by himself years ago.

What video game do you not own, but want the most?

I would really love to own an arcade cabinet of Virtua Fighter 2.

One day when I retire I would actually like to set up a pizza joint with a bunch of arcade games set up on free play though, so I guess basically any arcade game I like would be cool to own the actual cabinet to.

What is the worst game you own?

Hmm, one of the Madden games on Genesis I suppose.

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?

Two copies of Pier Solar on Genesis.

What is the hardest game you've played?

Against a high quality human opponent Virtua Fighter is about as hard as a game can get.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?

[youtube:14gvwy56]yND5V85iPHc[/youtube:14gvwy56]
Star Cruiser on Genesis, nobody I know has ever heard of it. Found a complete copy  at Goodwill for $2 in the early 00's. 3D, free space combat, first person shooter on stock Genesis hardware. Good soundtrack too.

Otherwise probably a Knuckles figure, I think I have seen it on Sega Memories, but not sure. This is pretty obscure, a pikachu condom. I have one of these.

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?

All, through a splitter: NES, SNES, GC, Wii, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS3, PS2, PS1. 10 I guess.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?

Nope, only autographs I have are of Conan O'Brien and a European Playboy model named Dominique.

What video game do you not own, but want the most?

Panzer Dragoon Saga.

What is the worst game you own?
I don't own any games I would consider bad at this point.  I have done my best to rid myself of them.  However, the worst game I previously owned is Alone in the Dark: One Eyed Jack's Revenge for Saturn.  What a piece of garbage.

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?
Street Fighter Zero 3 for Saturn.

What is the hardest game you've played?
Mega Man 9 is insanely hard.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?
I'm not sure.  Maybe Rent-A-Hero No. 1 for Dreamcast?  Oh, I also own Christmas Nights.

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?
I currently have my Dreamcast, Saturn, Wii and Xbox 360 hooked up.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?
No.  I do have a lot of autographed comic books though.  :-D

What video game do you not own, but want the most?
Radiant Silvergun

Great thread by the way. :)

What is the worst game you own?
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Game Gear. That boss in the pit......

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?Probably the limited edition of Trigger Heart Exelica or Under Defeat for Dreamcast.

What is the hardest game you've played?
Super Meat Boy's final boss was enough to break my spirits. I could never really make much progress with Shinobi for PS2 or Gitaroo Man either.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?
Probably one of these I guess: Dreamcast DDR Pad, Dreamcast Broadband Adapter, or PlanetWeb Browswer 3.0 (also for Dreamcast).

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?
Dreamcast, NES, N64, Wii, PSOne, PS2, PS3, and an Xbox. So 8.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?
Nothing video game related. Just a few comics, photos, and movie posters.

What video game do you not own, but want the most?
Mega Man Legends 2

What is the worst game you own?
I don't really have any games I think of as truly bad.  I guess the closest I could come up with is, I currently have a copy of Skate 3 waiting for the Glyde envelope to arrive to ship it away.  I got it just to play with certain friends online and then we were never online at the same time.  It's not a bad game from a gameplay perspective, but the attitude and character design is just so mundane and reeks of extensive market research and focus groups... It makes me feel a little ashamed to have EA games.  They used to be such a cool developer in the 80s and they became such a cynical business entity.

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?
Nothing really extraordinarily expensive.  Since I consider my MS wireless racing wheel to be almost solely dedicated to Forza, I guess that might be what I consider the most expensive game.

What is the hardest game you've played?
The hardest games really are the old school coin-ops.  Contemporary game-wise, though, I would say that it's really hard for me to play Bayonetta as well as a I want to.  You can get by with low ranks but I want to play it superbly.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?
A Nelsonic Pac-Man watch, circa 1981.  Not the kind with the gamepad, but the kind with an actual little joystick built in.  It's really cool.

Also, I have the Sega History Collection of gachapon miniature consoles.  They are freaking awesome!

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?
360, PS3, Atari Flashback 2.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?
I'm not really into autographs.  I recently went to a book signing of a favorite author of mine and she signed the book but I don't really care about that kind of thing.

What video game do you not own, but want the most?
Jet Set Radio 3!  Of games that currently exist... an actual cocktail coin-op of Joust.

What is the worst game you own?
Tiki Tiki Towers
What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?
All of my games are equal in value. Though, I paid a premium for Monster Hunters: Tri since it came with a CCPro.
What is the hardest game you've played?
Monster Hunter Tri is pretty challenging
What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?
Animal Crossing Cards lmao
How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?
1.. Wii
Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?
No. :(

Consoles hooked up to my TV at once: Mac Mini, Dreamcast, Saturn, Wii, Super Famicom, PS3, 360.

Want the most: I have a baby on the way, so I'm getting rid of M-rated games. Just traded in all 4 Yakuza games, and I miss them already.

Woh! A baby and you're removing the M rated games?? Why dude? You can easily put them on a high shelf and just not play them when the kid is awake.

My dad had a good number of R rated movies, like Taxi Driver, Die Hard and war films, and just kept them on a high shelf and didn't let me watch them. Simple solution and no need to get rid of them.

I know when we have a wee one in a few years, I ain't losing my Resident Evil games.

You'll understand when it happens.  It's not necessarily rational, it's a nesting instinct.  I can't do much else to get ready because my father is still here in the house we bought.  He'll move out a month after the baby is born.   Anyway, it's not about the baby playing games, it's about me playing games around the baby.  Video games aren't the same as movies, you don't just play them for the short time when he's asleep.  At least for me, I get sucked in and play for hours.  I don't want him around swearing and violence.  Not for a while anyway.  I'm shaping my own behavior.

I keep thinking you are older, but then you say stuff like your dad had "Die Hard" on a high shelf.  That was like 1985.

Oh come on dude. Don't paint me out to be some sort of naive child. I'm 27. I very much doubt that I'll "understand when it happens". When it happens is sure to be in less than 3 years time. We'll have a child, I'll keep all my R and M rated stuff and just not play any of it while the child is in ear shot. I just find it odd to purge a house of things like M rated games, especially when they are so unassuming and safe when simply placed high on a shelf or in a box. Only taken out when the kid is fast asleep or away at the grandparents house for the weekend. Is there anything offensive about a copy of Yakuza existing in a home? It's not as though it has the content of the game illustrated on the cover. It's just Japanese dudes standing about.

Anyway, your choice. I'm cool with whatever you do, just don't understand it. And it is a major pet peeve of mine when people say "you don't understand, but you will". Didn't mean all of the above to sound like an attack, I just wanted you to know that that sort of thing really gets on my nerves.  8-)

What is the worst game you own?

World of Warcraft. :P Got it at launch, played for 5 months, I will never play it again.

What is the most expensive game you own (collectors value or retail)?

Can't think of anything. I own several "collectors edition" versions of games, but none are actually worth anything since I opened them.

What is the hardest game you've played?

Back to the Future on NES. I can't beat the first level without intense concentration, and I don't think I've ever gotten farther than the second.

What is the most obscure gaming thing you own?

A banner for the first Turok game. My brother snagged it for me when he worked at Blockbuster.

How many consoles do you have hooked up in your home/apartment/room?

Only 2 now: Wii and 360. Last summer I had 5: Wii, 360, Xbox, Dreamcast, Gamecube to get my retro-fix on.

Do you have any video game related thing autographed? If yes, what is it and who signed it?

Nope.

What video game do you not own, but want the most?

Panzer Dragoon Saga. I have a not-so-legal copy, but it's a pain having to swap discs on startup just to fake the system into reading it.
