Project Century revealed as new title from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JanPitSWd94

Quote
Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has another game up their sleeve at The Game Awards, and unlike Virtua Fighter it appears to be a brand new original title.
Project Century, which is more than likely a placeholder, takes place in 1915 Japan.
Though based on the clothing, architecture and presence of some supernatural elements it’s not the one from our own history. The game features the studio’s trademark over the top combat, though this time it is a lot more bloody than most titles from ...

Hm... you know what little thing bothers me to this day? (Other than the fact Japan can come up with the best mascots than America, looking at you Pepsiman!)

Segata Sanshiro had twenty-two commercials during the run of Sega Saturn. This is because his commercials were promoting various games over telling a story, but he became iconic amongast the Japanese Saturn fans.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc3AK8k90xw

For Sega's 60th anniversary... Sega Shiro was introduced, a character played by Maito Fujioka, the son of Hiroshi Fujioka who played Segata Sanshiro.
What bothers me is he only had three commercials and that's that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csOtSWMi9vM

What bothers me is they looked like they were setting something up for Sega Shiro, I imagined him promoting various Sega games for Japanese consumers in the future... but they never did anything with him after those three commercials.

So, what was the point? Other than to promote the 60th anniversary, but why end episode three as if his journey is just beginning?

Meanwhile, in these Nissin Yakisoba UFO commercials, this mysterious cyborg character called "Legend" seem to harbour a familiar spirit... not that it matters given there was no more commercials with him straight-after.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZfAKEfsNTI

I know all this is over four years old and no point being hung up on it, it's just I wish Sega made up their mind about it. Or the very least not had bothered with Sega Shiro to begin with. Because Segata Sanshiro left a legacy behind and they mad eSega Shiro to continue that legacy and then... they didn't?
I understand Segata Sanshiro was for marketing, but either establish a commercial-lore here like what those Nissin Yakisoba UFO commercials did or just leave it be.

You would not like this fact but I'm gonna say it anyway ... Sega Shiro was actually introduced to promote Game Gear Micro.
The creative marketing team tied in to 60th Anniversary because that's the release year of Game Gear Micro.

I don't know the reason but all original videos of Sega Shiro were deleted after all Game Gear Micro sold out.
May be the marketing team think it's already served its purpose or the contract with Maito Fujioka has expired.
It's supposed to be Japan thing only since Game Gear Micro didn't release for the west but the enthusiastic fans and gamezines make this a bigger deal to the overseas since Segata Sanshiro was popular.
Official pages and social media of SEGA western never even once mentioned Sega Shiro.

But those ads had nothing to do with the Game Gear Micro! It had more to do with the original Game Gear if anything! What a waste of marketing!

Because the reveal of Game Gear Micro was sometimes later.
They kinda like went with happy 60th anniversary first with Sega Shiro and  "GO SEGA" logo campaign.
And then ended up by : "Please buying this console specially released for this anniversary : Game Gear Micro!"

SEGA Western of course treat "GO SEGA" campaign differently with giving away free games for Steam.
It worked fine in the west but in Japan it only has minimal effect since more people playing on consoles than on Steam.
They'd prefer the Game Gear Micro release.

This one time "Comeback" isn't the first.
Remember when Segata Sanshiro come out in Tokyo Game Show 2015?
People assumed big when it's just really one time advertising.
He's there only to promote the game he's starred in : Project X Zone 2, nothing more.

Hey adventurers!
After so much hard work, dedication, and above all, love, I’m beyond excited to share that Reknum: Fantasy of Dreams is now available on Steam.
This isn’t just a game—it’s a journey crafted with heart for you to explore magical worlds, solve challenges, and join Cheri on her toughest adventure yet. If you love platforming, classic action, and stories filled with fantasy, this game was made for you.
I want to thank you for being here and supporting this dream every step of the way. None of this would be possible without players like you—those who dream big and fight hard in every game.

Regarding MegaDrive/Genesis we have made very little progress since we thought that the graphical compression of the main switch game would take less time, we are making progress and when we have something to show we will do it right away.
Thank you very much for understanding
