Okay friends, I've calmed (a little).
Bayonetta 2, yay!
--
Anyway, to explain myself after all my Twitter bitching:
When I heard the announcement, it was one part "FUCK YES!", one part "FUCK NO!".
I love Bayonetta, I am tepid on the Wii U. Wii U itself disappoints me in terms of hardware and in terms of concept. It's just Wii 2.0! It's going to be outdated in a few years!
What I was waiting for was a game that excites me in terms of the hardware, something that utilizes the pad thingy in an exciting way. But instead I get Bayonetta 2.
Bayonetta 2 is an amazing announcement, but it just reeks of "you want this sequel you want so badly? Buy our console, because it's an exclusive! Muahaha!" Bayonetta 2 excites me, yes, but it doesn't change my opinion on the Wii U at all. Wii U is essentially a current gen machine, the specs prove it, so really Bayonetta 2 COULD be released on 360 and PS3... but it's not. And it's not due to hardware limitations or because the game was meant to be played with motion controls, but because Nintendo were sneaky mother fuckers and got it as an exclusive.
An ingenious move, an amazingly smart move, but still a shit move for those who love the series, have a 360 or PS3 and never wanted their reason for buying a Wii U to be because they begrudgingly had to buy it in order to play an exclusive that they were jonesing for for years.
So that's my current attitude: Very excited to hear that there is a Bayonetta 2.
Angry that my reason to want a Wii U is not for innovation or hardware reasons, but because of a single exclusive. Less of a "I need a Wii U because the console looks awesome" and more of a "I need a Wii U if I want to play Bayonetta 2."
