Over the next year there will be a big focus across the toy distribution across Europe. Similarly, we will also be growing the apparel, publishing and stationary categories. We will have several new digital titles launching as well as a new boxed game, so there will be plenty of opportunities to link marketing campaigns across games and merchandise

I know. I mean, every year there's at least 3 Sonic games, this year's no different (Sonic Jump, SEGA All-Stars Racing Transformed and Sonic Adventure 2 HD). But I didn't expect SEGA to tease 3 projects... like all of a sudden and of all places an interview that was mainly focused on toys.

Sonic Adventure - 1999
Sonic Adventure 2 - 2001
Sonic Heroes - 2003
Silver the Hedgehog - 2006
Sonic Unleashed - 2008
Sonic Colours - 2009
Sonic Generations - 2011

The only time SEGA ever had more than two year gap between major Sonic titles with 06 and that was due to changing platforms. Pretty much deadcert we were going to get another mainline title next year.

I think Colors was late 2010 if memory serves.  There was almost exactly one year between it and Sonic Generations.

Also if you're going to list Colors, you might as well list Black Knight(2009) and Secret Rings(2007).  They're not main series canon entries but they're still major big budget releases if that's how we're counting.  With that in mind there has been almost no gaps over a year since 2006.

Personally I find the silence refreshing.  Take your time sonic team.  And let the Colors team make all the important decisions :P

My guess:

Boxed: Sonic Colors 2 (or another main series title on Wii U, 360 and PS3)
Digital: Sonic 4 Ep 3, Sonic Heroes

I can't see a Wii U exclusive. SEGA would be foolish to limit their sales to one new console when they could make $$$ on two others as well.

don't forget hunnid p said hes working on some music for SEGA

so one of the games could be a modern day Knuckles Chaotix as envisioned by iizuka-san, full of rap music.

Iizuka actually said in an interview in 2010 that he would like to make a Knuckles Chaotix style game, and NiGHTS 3, but SEGA wouldn't greenlight it for him. Of course things could be different now ;)

oh and barry, you don't have to worry about the next game being exclusive to wii u, Iizuka-san has said in interviews he wants Sonic to be played by everyone and is always looking for ways to expand the franchise to get new audiences interested. Plus tbh, I don't think SEGA Sammy would like that, they like their $$$$$$$.

Actually there is another interview with iizuka (lol, lots of interviews with this guy, loves to speak his mind) Where he says Generations and Colors started development at the same time. If you add that up with his Nintendo power interview where he said Generations Wii was scrapped because it wasn't HD, it starts to make sense that Colors is the Nintendo fan version of Generations, even shares same enemy models.

Then SEGA just felt like cashing in on Nintendo fans and had dimps shit out Generations 3DS. Also from the same Iizuka interview, Iizuka said at E3, that only one level for Generations 3DS was playable, and that the HD game was finished by then and was being polished. Further adding to the evidence that Generations 3DS was crapped out by Dimps in a few months to cash in on Nintendo fanbase XD

OH! and from that same interview, iizuka said Sonic Generations White version (HD) was for people who liked High quality games and were already Sonic fans. and that Generations blue version (3DS) was for people new to Sonic with easier gameplay.

not this garbage again.  There is no proof what so ever that Colors is the "scrapped" version of Generations for Wii.  This is weird, baseless console-war/fan-boy conjecture.  In fact, the word scrapped infers that it was in development in the first place.  So even with what you're assuming, the wii version of generations couldn't have been scrapped.  They just decided to make a completely different game for the Wii.  And the results were anything but a cash-in.

And unless the game is designed around the wiiu game pad, it should certainly be on all 3 hd consoles.  That way they can consolidate their efforts/resources and make the best game possible; non of this one game for core gamers, one game for young gamers bullshit that Iizuka was so fond of bringing up at one point.  Because I guarantee you the same crowd that bought Colors in 2010 was the EXACT same crowd to buy Generations in 2011.

the sonic fan base is messed up. i dont know but i think im the only one who likes all the sonics
yeah i even like spinball or sonic drift.
maybe the only sonic i say is the less best of all probably would be sonic the hedgehog 4 and their episodes
sonic colours rocks. yet people complain aboyt the physics
sonic generation rocks yet the fan bas is complaining about the tr on error system
sonic 06 was rocking badly
yet people were crying about some minor bugs and the long loading

to be honest i just hope it wont be sonic the hedgehog 4 episode 3

sonic jump rocks as well. i used to have the old on on my sony ericsson w610

my hopes are for a sonic adventure
i really love 1 and 2

and my biggest wish is to use the old sonic 3 and knuckles sprites with an hd background including beatifull music and loads of zones containing 3 stages each.
just imagine that.

but m talking to the fan base now. guys i understand your frustrations. but when u look at it honestly u probably enjoyed all of them and the less of all sonic 4 eps and sonic knights

come on even shadow the hedgehog was respective

Iizuka-san himself said the Wii version of Generations was scrapped due to the Wii not having HD graphics in a Nintendo Power interview, I'm not assuming anything. In a Japanese interview that was translated by someone on neogaf, he said the Generations and Colors started development at around the same time, so if you put two and two together... that Japanese interview is also where he said HD version for people who like high quality games and 3DS version for people who want easier game. That Japanese interview is also where he talked about the development cycles.

lol, i gotta go find it now. I'll post it once i find it. It's burried in countless Iizuka interviews of the interwebs, guy likes to talk.

Also you can keep saying that it's bullshit about how Nintendo platforms are being downgraded for kids, but even for All-Stars racing, you got Sumo Digital talking about how the 3DS version has been downgraded to be easier for kids. Seems like it's SEGA sees corporate wide, 3DS is for kids.

I don't doubt that early on, Colors was going to be an SD version of Generations. How early on, we don't quite know, but I don't think it's complete BS.

All that's confirmed is that there was at one point, a wii version of Generations under consideration.  That could have been a completely separate thing for all we know.  I wouldn't be surprised if Colors did start out its development cycle as Generations Wii but at the moment, that's all just conjecture.

And even if it is true, what does it matter?  If it's supposed to be an argument that Colors was some kind of slap dash cash in, it certainly doesn't hold water.  The quality of the game (which by all critical accounts is equal or more to Generations)doesn't reflect that at all.

If you add that up with his Nintendo power interview where he said Generations Wii was scrapped because it wasn't HD, it starts to make sense that Colors is the Nintendo fan version of Generations, even shares same enemy models.

Nintendo fan version?  What does this even mean?  It's like you're looking to bring people down for no reason.

and

Iizuka-san

are you Shadineko using a different account or something?
