I'm throwing in with Sonic Colours 2. That game was bloody awesome and with some improvements to the controls/physics blah blah blah yeah what ever. It could be insanely awesome.

well, that explains a lot.  I have nothing against the man personally but it seems as though he's brought terrible design decisions with him where ever he goes.  Shadow the Hedgehog(the game) was his idea after all.

True, but he did make NiGHTS into Dreams, which I am thankful for.

Either way, I do think he should try something outside of Sonic.

I wonder who was in charge of Colours whilst he was on Generations?

Generations is still a good game...it just takes time to really get into it.

He was in charge of both as a producer.

Iizuka, like most people, is not perfect and has his hits and misses. For every shitty came attributed to his name, there is an awesome game that he worked on. I think it just all comes down to all the elements falling into place and all the people doing a good job for his projects to work out well. He is pretty much producer on all titles now, right? And we've had nothing but good to great games since Colors. So I'm cool with the guy. He, and Sonic Team, just had a period of crappy games in the mid '00's

I know he was involved with both, although I heard that some parts of Colours were not of his decision.

I don't mind the guy at all! I just think that after trying to make Sonic good again (and he did manage to do that), he should focus his energies into something not Sonic for once...I am sure the Team can make one Sonic game without him whilst he makes something his own and hopefully really great!

He actually was the reason why the game was so light hearted. As far as interviews and PR, he was the public face of Sonic Colours so he was very much involved as a producer. The same applies with Sonic Generations.

His position is the same as Nagoshi right now. Iizuka overlooks everything Sonic Team does and decides what would be the best course of action for them, he will be involved in same capacity in every title they make.

Plus SEGA current structure would mean Sonic Team would probably be making solely Sonic titles for a while now, at least until the company's outlook is much stronger (Which to be fair is already happening)

I remember specifically reading that he was "hands-off" when it came to Colors' development though I don't know where said interview is atm.

Ah I see, fair enough.

I do hope Sonic Team make more things in the future so that it's not always Sonic games that come out.

I really enjoyed NiGHTs and if they managed to get Burning Rangers on XBLA/PSN then that'd get their image of making more then just Sonic ever stronger like in the Saturn days!

for real

colours 2  an sa3

sonic colours and sa series were almost bugless glitchless. nice storyline. and sonic adventure gave me 3d version of sega megadrive past.

i look at sonic 06 as some kind of sa serie in an ideal world they wouldnt have brought this game out untill all glitches and bugs were solved and the px shaded were fully added. nobody talks about this game anymore and it has become the underdog of sonic games. but whoever played this game more then 5 levels would come to the judgment that it would be the best games if it was just polished a bit more and not brought out untill fully complete

Yeah, I had a few problems with Colours, but it was not as much as Generations.

Did Ilzuma have input in that game? I have read that he wasn't as involved in Colours as Generations.

In my opinion, I don't think he is as good at making Sonic games as he is with NiGHTS (Journey of Dreams is debatable, but I liked it), I do think he cares about the Sonic brand, but I think sometimes his ideas aren't always the best ones. I think he needs to make something not related to Sonic or NiGHTS for me to judge properly.

It's all in the passion.

I'm more of a Shinobi Team/Overworks fan myself anyway. Sonic Team's stuff is very good if we ignore Sonic itself, it's too bad that they don't make them as much as we hope.

We also rarely hear of Hitmaker...are they making another Virtual On or has that franchise died with Border Break being "the" game to go to in Japan?

Overall, I am hoping there's a Sonic Colours 2.
Exactly. Sonic Team with the handful of games outside of Sonic was really IMO on their way as being the AM2 of the consumer division. I wasn't a big fan of PSO but i did appreciate what they did with the title. Unfortunately half if not all the important members of sonic team left leaving the unit as an insignificant shadow. looking at what Sonic team games from the Saturn period to the DC you could see the strength of their original titles and that each title was as good if not better than the last. just like how it was with AM2 when they were making their names in the arcades before they reached their pinnacle during the nineties. We all can see that if the original team was still within Sega we'd be getting great titles because by themselves in the form of Artoon and Prope they haven't delivered anything as close.

As for BB its probably safe to say its resting until Sega decides to celebrate the anniversary of VO.

Likewise about PSO, I am not into MMOs but they made something that is appealing to most MMO fans so they have the quality there.

Now and again I do see some good non-Sonic games from them (Project Rub and Rhythm Thief), but unfortunately they aren't as memorable as their older works...especially the latter where it's essentially another rhythm game universe when we already have Samba de Amigo/Space Channel 5.

I just wished one of the two supposed Sonic Teams do something different. Even if it's Chu Chu Rocket 2 or something.

Kori-Maru's shown that there are probably too many Sonic titles from SEGA these days (although it does make money).

Oh, and it seems like the Shining Ark game didn't do as well as SEGA expected (57,000 I think). Some think that Tony Taka and Overworks (??) should give the series a rest now, and I would have to agree since I haven't seen that team do much since Valkyria Chronicles. :(
