The 3G billing is through AT&T and it's 15.99 (250MB) per month on a Month-to-month basis.  So you turn it on or off.  It's more for the unlimited.

Good catch Shadi.  I'm still stuck in the olden days.  My PC Jr. Didn't have a hard drive, and I had an external HD for my Amiga 500 with 52MB on it.   :shock:

Eee PC users paid 400 for 4gb of space and no one gave them crap. It is for the 3G version. Do I think they should charge so much for the '3G difference' ? No. But honestly, I think all laptops should have 3G built in.

Though the extra cost makes sense sorta, it costs about $99 dollars + 2 year contract to get a 3G adapter for a laptop. This has it build in for a $50 more, no contract.

Yes, but he bought a version with extra cost due to 3G. So you have to take that into factor for the price he paid. 64gb may seem like a 'little bit' of memory, but its not suppose to be a 'computer replacement' this is suppose to be a "netbook" of sort.

PC lite, to take out with you and browse the web, read some books. Have a couple of movies. Just how iPod is not suppose to be a home theater replacement, etc.

It is like going up to a person with a 100,000 dollar car and pointing out that the rims are not some expensive brand, then laughing at him.

Though for me, personally, the iPad's price is too expensive for what it does. It is not as functional as a netbook to me yet and I would like to see a netbook from apple that runs on OSX and has a touch screen. I know there is a market for this product, but I'm not that market at all.

(AT&T unlimited 3G plan is $29.99. Would be nice if you could use your phone 3G with the iPad. I do not like paying DOUBLE to access 3G )

I got the 64MB 3G version, so I'm still waiting for mine to come in the mail.  On the plus side, I get the case and the VGA adapter tomorrow.  Weeeeeee!  I didn't know you can't turn it on until you plug it in.  That's weird, but certainly not a deal breaker.  I'm glad mine's coming in the mail.  All those people that want to play with it in the car on the way home...  Too bad.

The Slashdot review says you can use it right away:

Actually, it isn't funny at all. I remember seeing some of his old videos too. I can't see how destroying hundreds of dollars worth of electronics with a blender is funny.

I think the reasons Emmett gave on him purchasing the iPad are good. I have no counterargument here. I think while he may not actually need it, the device comes in very handy for him. Orta clearly does not need one as he has a bakery or something. Most of the users here do not have jobs that are as demanding as Emmett's, either.

Of course, we live in a world where people are questioned for buying one of their favorite games again for $5 when said person can already play it on two other platforms that are already in the same room... Okay, well that was not a good example, but OKAY!

Well actually,  I think he's referring to when he bought Sonic 2 on Wii, when he already had it on XBox 360. The Virtual Console version is bascially just a ROM without any of the features the 360 version already had.

It's not so bad, but he also goes on about how money is tight and he has to be careful what he buys etc, so I thought speinding money on an inferior copy of a game he already owns multiple times was a strange move.



More importantly, I need to get one of those blenders, that shit was impressive.

I think they removed the aluminium from the back of the iPad. He bent it really easily. Either that or he is the Superman who has a superblender.
