Yakuza 5 and Yakuza HD Collections Western Release
« on: January 30, 2013, 03:16:28 pm »
No news, is apparently not great news:

http://www.examiner.com/article/yakuza-5-and-yakuza-hd-collection-western-localization-discussed-by-sega

I hope this is not the case though and Y5 + YHD get released this year.

Right now the best thing that can be done is to help spread the word on the series – tell your friends or others you think might enjoy them, and have them grab a copy of Y4 or Dead Souls.

No, that was your job, Sega...

I like Aaron Webber and all but seriously.....

Oh well, back to this again. At least this means I can safely hold off on any PS3 purchase anytime soon...

Don't know who told them to localize Dead Souls instead of Yakuza 5 but it was a poor decision for sure.

I'd rather recomend 3 over Dead Souls but alright...

Just seems stupid to me, if this were any other company, there woudn't be a problem...

We're back to this again... It just seems odd, since Yakuza 5 is a bonafide seller in Japan, I'd assume that subbing and editing menu screens wouldn't be much of a hassle.

It's a shame to waste this perfectly good M-rated franchise.

Though, in the case of the Yakuza HD Collection, I can only see this as Games-on-demand deal.

Well since the HD Collection's already translated I really have no idea what the big deal is with that one, though I'd agree, priority should go to Yakuza 5.

Didn't Yakuza 3 and 4 sell decently in the west anyway? To think that I could be playing a new Yakuza in a few months makes me sad.

Oh, and just in case anyone was wondering, Sega won't notice any extra sales of Yakuza 3 or 4. They would have stopped selling those yonks ago.

Like, the Japanese release has English subtitles? Or are you just referring to the subs in the original english releases? I couldn't find this anywhere.

Sega should release the Yakuza series also on the 360 and the wii u, to get a bigger audience !
That's the main problem i think.
SEGA fan 4 life !

Yeah, that's a good point.  They've been needlessly Sony-exclusive for like 10 years.

It's a Sony exclusive because Sony was the only one willing to support the series in Japan and is the only one who still helps SEGA market it in Japan.

But really they should go PC.

Yeah, it's true, Sony's the only one that seems to have bothered with this franchise, though a PC port and possibly iPad and Tablet PC ports wouldn't be a bad idea.

I mean the PC is not competing in the strict sense with the other major consoles and SEGA does have a perfectly good inhouse PC studios that can do great ports... so...
