Yeah, because when I - a 29-year old male - play a game about a beautiful, rich Elnglish lady that likes to raid tombs for the fuck of it, shoot dinosaurs and a gigantic torso, I instantly think of realism.
So the Lara Croft in those classic titles was unrealistic because she didn't cry when she got hurt? Well, perhaps we can add "sexist" to your lengthy list of accolades. Congrats! Where can I send your T-shirt? All kidding aside, when Lara was first introduced, she was already an experienced adventurer. By that point, the woman had a thick skin. Experience hardens you whether you're a man or woman, 'kay? It makes more sense for her to be a tad soft in this new title since she's just getting started. That would've been out-of-place in the early games.
And I wasn't denying that movies had an influence on Lara Croft and her adventures; my point was that your choices were dumb....wait, you compared Lara Croft to Steve James of American Ninja because she's fearless? Seriously? Don't get me wrong, Steve James is awesome, but there are plenty of fearless characters in literature and foreign cinema that are fearless. How about Sherlock Holmes? He's pretty fucking fearless. Hell, that's the one spot where I think James Bond would have been fitting. Get this, both characters are ENGLISH ICONS!
If you actually watched Wonder Woman, you would have seen that she was stricken with fear on several occassions.
In addition, the Tomb Raider movies sucked ass because the filmmakers didn't respect the material. That's nothing new though, since Hollywood often fuck up video game-to-movie adaptations. The only one I actually loved was Silent Hill. The first two Resident Evil flicks were good, before the third came out and fucked everything up.
i didnt really compare the movie of tombraider with the games. actually somehow i fused them together. but your right on that they dont really respect the material. like they do most of the time.
prince of persia movies wasnt really honest since the dude didnt even look like an iranian persian. but i guess it was still better then the tomb raider one( choosing your view for the moment)
maybe its a matter of taste. i cant reallly believe a woman is that of a hard ass. ive been in the militairy untill 2001. and honestly those girls were really hard. but sometimes they had breaking moments. especially when they would have their period. i respect their nature and i love woman DUH
as for the old lara. let me put it in charts.
tomb raider 1.
nice game story mode not too long. very nice puzzles. not to much enemys. but once they were there you would shit your pants. lara was tight there.
i loved the game dont get me wrong. the game was basic but at that time the 3d together with the so called voodoo graphics card was really nice.
also the obstacles were not to underestimate. tomb raider wasnt the game that when u die u start where you were or rewind like the prince of persia of ps2
it was serious skill u need.
tomb raider2
all the above mentioned plus some more clothing and levels. one of the cool things was that when she got out of water you would see the water still drip from her. that was a nice addon. but also i started to learn about lara more cause the story line had both real movies and iside game 3d scenes. i allready felt the presence of disliking her. but i loved the game more when about action and puzzles
tomb raider 3.
the surprise. i was liking it even more. well thats what u get if u follow a movie your always curious about whats gonna happen. like in the assassins creed effect of today. you still play it but feel a presence of automatic pilot behaviour. u still play it but things become easy cause u start to understand the game makers puzze ideas.
TR4 last revelation.
honestly i only played half of it cause i just somehow was dumb enough to borrow my psx to someone who suddenly moved to another land. so i never got my psx back and basically didnt want to start from scratch.
tomb raider 5 chronicles
i played this game on the dreamcast. and i really loved it again in the name of nostalgia i felt familiar with the game. and the strange part is that i loved lara again. she was becoming the woman that i expected her to be. she talked more and was researching a lot. but also did she show feminine inside.
i finished the game with the same automatic pilot that i kinda started to have long ago.
then i basically skipped all the parts. and played tomb raider on the wii which i liked because of the new graphics. and then trilogy came and i hated the game for real this time. the game was empty loads of time. i was sick of killing raptors gorillas and wolves or t rex on that arena. i ws like yah fuck that
AND THEN
this tomb raider 2013 came
i love everything about it.. look yeah i know u dont like that i play this game cause i know your politically correct . u like to be an honest person. but apart from that. i just hope that once you play the game you come back to me and say yo sem your comparisons are weird moreover you are weird but i agree with you on this
that it is the best tomb raider ever played
