The first one still has charm to it despite the cheese.

Anyway, last movie I saw was Dead Man's Shoes




It was a good revenge movie, with good acting and a very good main character, but I didn't like it quite as much as I was expecting. The way he toys with/terrifies his victims was quite good especially.

Good movie, but Oldboy is still perched at the top of my favourite movie list, let alone favourite revenge movie.

Missed this, good movie! really good.

Just got back from a Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief screening and I kinda liked it.

It's basically Clash of the Titans for kids.

I wasn't blown away by it, but it did have some fun moments. The main protagonist was OK as far as these types of movie go.
The hero's buddy Grover was kinda corny, way too many puns for that one.

The movie wasn't quite what I expected either, the trailer was focused heavily on mythological elements like monsters and so forth, but it's part summer camp, part road trip film.

Expect some interesting cameos(some of them are a bit weird, such as Uma Thurman, which I won't reveal who she plays and Steve Coogan, for example) as well as always welcomed performaces by Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean.

Some things do get a bit silly from time to time(like how the kids manage to get from place to place, considering a lot of the commotion they caused). But overall, not a bad way to spend 2 hours.

I give it a B.

Just watched The Hurt Locker.  I kind of want to see as many of the academy award nominated movies as possible before the Oscars, so I can be properly pleased or pissed when people win/lose.
I was pretty impressed with the movie overall.  For a movie about people who defuse bombs, it was about as tense as you might expect (very).
I wasn't really excited to see a movie set in the Iraq war, but I thought this one was really good.  Regardless of your personal views on the whole Iraq situation, it's worth checking out.  Some very well shot sequences, and performances.  The whole opening in particular was very well done.

Went to see wolfman at the movies...

Acting was good. Effects were really bad. Story wasn't very original either.

If you've seen plenty of Werewolf movies you may want to pass this one up.

17 Again's pretty funny.  Thomas Lennon has some pretty great lines in that movie.

I just picked up Ong Bak 2 on Blu ray.
I wasn't too sure what to expect, considering it didn't really look like it had much to do at all with Ong Bak, but it was pretty great.
More along the lines of a Chinese kung fu flick, than The Protector.  Lots of broken limbs and knees to faces though.
It very clearly sets up the 3rd movie, but doesn't cheap out on the action.  There's a pretty fantastic fight near the end.
