Oh man, Sky Diver for the 2600... I remember playing that a lot as a little kid... stunned by the little twitchy animation when your sky diver splats into the ground.

Agreed on the Gyruss music... absolutely incredible and ahead of its time.

Purchased Gyruss today, the music is intact!

Also, when you boot up Game Room there is a software update that makes a number of changes/additions:

* In the main menu, it tells you what game packs the games are from in the preview videos.

* There is now an in-game leaderboard that tells you your current overall rank in that game on the left upperhand corner, and it also shows you a dynamic leaderboard on the right that shows your standing depending on the score you have in the game you are playing. Very cool addition, with animations etc.

* The Atari 2600 interface has changed in Classic Mode.

* They added a new avatar animation for when you play a game. It appears that now another avatar will come over and cheer you on as you play something.

* New game filters were added. You can filter by Game Pack.

* You now get fireworks with a leaderboard score and the option to send a taunt message when you beat your friend's high score on the machine.

* There is a new pirate theme

Clearly Game Room has not been forgotten by MS.

Hey Barry, I went to try out Sky Diver and keep getting a screen that says to connect controller 1.  It doesn't respond to hitting the A button. I've tried switching the controller on and off but no luck.  Other games that give me that screen respond to the A button just fine.  Do you have the same problem?

By the way, I put a few games in my arcade now... Asteroids Deluxe, Gyruss, Black Widow, and Tempest.  Black Widow is awesome... I don't really remember ever seeing it as a kid.  My gamertag is Zoy if you want to trade visits.

Nice! Thanks Centrale! I am in need of more visitors. I just redid my whole arcade last night. I'm trying to keep publishers together while having a few "fun rooms". One idea I had for a "fun room" is a green room (use the green room theme, obviously) and fill it with all the games that you have high scores for. The green high score banners combined with the green room make it very... green.

As for Sky Diver, I didn't have this problem. That's odd. Did it work after restarting game room? I think I remember that happening to me once back during launch week and a restart did the trick.

Here's this week's upcoming games:

(Arcade)
Yie Ar Kung Fu

(Atari 2600)
Enduro
Ice Hockey
Gravitar

(Intellivision)
Tower of Doom

Enduro is the first one that jumps out at me.  The best 2600 racer (although Night Driver is one of my favorites too), and another great example of how awesome Activision was in their early days.

It should be interesting seeing the 2600 translation of Gravitar, too.  I remember the coin-op Gravitar's distinct title screen, but only played it for the first time tonight.  Got it for my arcade.  It's incredibly hard, but I can tell there's a lot of depth there.

I'll be getting Yie Ar Kung Fu and will demo the rest. Summer of Arcade will probably take the rest of my points. The very positive reviews of LIMBO have changed my mind from a "no" to "perhaps".

If you accidentally bump into the chicken's tailfeathers, it rapidly and forcefully pecks the hell out of your head.  Requires 16 D batteries.

Chicken Limbo needs to be in Game Room! Make it a Kinect title! Perfect.

Aww man, I just tried to accept your Yie Ar Kung Fu challenge, and realized that you have to own the game to accept the challenge.  I thought it would give you a free play.  Seems like they could sell more games that way, as people would try it out and get hooked.  Anyhow, can't afford it this week!

Those who want to DL Frostbite and Jail Break a day early can, by visiting the Showcase Arcade. Krome oddly updated the demo room or Game Room with games that have yet to be released. So you can play them for free via demo/tokens or buy them. I bought Frostbite and Jail Break yesterday, both are great fun. I'm especially loving Frostbite. Like Frogger mixed with OINK!

Tomorrow's releases (which are already available as I explained)

(Arcade) Jail Break (Atari 2600) Decathlon, Asteroids, Frostbite (Intellivision) Auto Racing

Decathlon!  That game absolutely destroyed our joysticks, as you ran by pushing the stick side to side as fast as possible.  Reduced them to clicking, rattling paperweights with loose shards of plastic tumbling around inside.
