Fuck! I've had so many opportunities to pick that up. Wish I had now. Interesting how the presentation is very similar, though Solar Eclipse looks a bit more sophisticated.
It's a legitimately good railshooter. In fact, I'd say it's one of my all-time favorites. The cutscenes and comm-traffic only enhance the experience. For the most part, they hired some pretty good actors, including Claudia Christian from Babylon 5.
Although I do believe Nekkatsu Oyako is deeply underappreciated and needs a bit of spotlight, because of the lack of knowledge about it's movelist and most people playing the weaker *PSX* version because the internet said it was the best version (some players have suggested it having 'less' slowdown, but I never noticed this and I played both, since PSX was fan-translated... but Saturn exclusive stuff really does the game good).
As of this moment, I've got four gameplays recorded for the next three weeks. The plan was to record a bunch of shorter games over the next few weeks to build up a buffer while I concentrated on a couple longer games / games I haven't ever played, but we'll see. If I don't get around to it soon, I will get to it eventually. I promise it'll be the first new beat-'em-up I tackle.
Some other Saturn games that needs some proper spotlight treatment.
- Hansha de Spark!
- Vatlva
- Steamgear Mash
- Savaki
- Hissatsu!
- Goiken Muyou Anarchy in the NIPPON
- Super Tempo
Anarchy in the Nippon has always intrigued me. Playing as a middle-aged salaryman with a kancho attack does have its appeal.
Super Tempo is a game that I actually own a sealed copy of. I've played through most of it before using a burnt image though. Unfortunately, I got stuck near the end at this part where some semblance of musical knowledge is required. I have none, heh.
Good to see you already did Tryrush Deppy
Own this one too. Fun game for the most part, but I'm not a big fan of the controls which are both sluggish (when you start moving) and slippery (when you're trying to stop). I get this is because Deppy is a car, but it's kinda annoying and makes precise platforming difficult.
