I finished reading Micro last night and also took the time to read a few extra reviews. To my surprise it's not bad at all. It's nowhere near the level of a Jurassic Park, but it's decent, waay better than Next.
There's some stuff there that's kinda weird, the characters are for the most part are very one-dimensional, most of them have one character trait they stick with it till the end, however[spoiler]I was surprised at how the story went down, you see Peter Jansen was presented in the novel as the main protagonist and indeed for much of the novel he is, so consider me shocked when he gets killed off later on and the other two more discrete protagonists actually become vital to the plot.
There's clearly a Jurassic Park vibe with Micro. The way the heroes have to fight off insects, bats and birds is very reminiscent of the 1991 novel. It's as exciting and gruesome, perhaps slightly more, the way one of the antagonists gets killed by a ground spider is just horrible and creepy.
