Mainly the animation looks very stiff and/or dull. Flash is a harsh word, but the vector graphics look I guess? I didn't like the look of Castle Crashers either for example, maybe that's just a personal thing.

Weird, personally haven't seen people say that. It's pretty clear that it's not a Flash game at the very least, with the 3D environments. I guess the animation on the characters is kinda Flash like, with how each limb seems to be tweened, but it seems to be done well enough.

The only animation I would agree could use work is the people sitting on the elephants back at the end, they do have a sort of cheap animation, but they play such a small role I'm hardly bothered. Graphically I think it looks great though, I like the art style a lot.

It's fighting its audience a little, Game Freak games were mostly on Nintendo handhelds since the creation of Pokemon.  I would absolutely get the game once I have a PS4.
