I did play it when it came out, like the first month. It just sucked. Bad dialogue, bad plot, bad world, bad design. You name it, this game had it in spades. Not to mention the characters where just bad stereotypes of older FF games with new and worse artwork and somehow worse battle system. The Materia system was crap and I think Square knows this , thats why they have ignored a remake for so long.

Oh, well in that case I don't know. Maybe it was the first JRPG many people played? Don't forget how many new gamers the PS era bought in and had no experience with games before hand, or very little at least.

Meanwhile I wouldn't touch Playstation or Nintendo because I was a stubborn Sega fan playing VF2 all day every day. Good Times.

I got a Playstation for Christmas, not much I can do with no job growing up. I did get a Saturn that same year I had a Playstation (I did a awesome trade for a shitty N64 for a Saturn).

Honestly I think thats what it is, someone first playing it. I dunno I feel like the game was just really badly designed where you feel like you have to grind to get anywhere. Maybe I just expected too much from people's hype and is a average JRPG.

Sounds like good times.

I think I understand you george about ff7. Personally I love it though. I wouldnt mind a remake, but not if it looked like the ps3 tease from long time ago.

The sole reason we bought a Playstation in 97' was because of FFVII. Game was incredible when it was released: Soundtrack, graphic rendering, characters, and story were great for its time.

Although it's certainly not my favorite FF game, it's on my top 5.

So surprised people still care about Final Fantasy VII, I bought into the hype and was laughing so hard at how shitty the game was and people still think its good. Nostaglia is a bitch. I played Chrono Trigger on the SNES a bit after playing VII, since I laughed the whole 'Square makes good RPGs' bandwagon away and was blown away.

I dunno how a developer could go from making one of the best 2D RPGs to make something like FFVII. What a drop in quality that continued quite rapidly.

Are you kidding me?! Final Fantasy VII was genius! I first played it 2 years ago and I love it!

I guess some people just have different opinions.

I couldn't agree more . I never liked Squaresoft on the Snes and then with all the HYPE I had a borrow  of my mates PS along with games when he went to the USA on Holidays and couldn't believe just how rubbish and overrated FF 7 really was . The story and cast of characters was rubbish for me and that kills a RPG imo .

GameArts Lunar series was just so mucg better and still for me the best RPG's ever made

http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2015/04/30/theres-now-an-e3-press-conference-for-the-pc

Seems like this year's E3 is gonna have more presentations than usual. Assuming that the usual suspects will be there, there's:

Microsoft
Sony
Nintendo
Ubisoft
EA
Bethesda
Square Enix
PC Gamer

All holding presentations with game reveals and such.

Kind of strange that PC Gamer is having a press conference. We'll see how it goes I guess. Might be nice to showcase some PC exclusives that otherwise might have been overlooked.

Who here is hoping there are some complete blunders during the presentations?

Really all I care about is some word on new Wii U games (because I for some reason still need more justification to buy one), and whatever comes up at Bethesda's coference. Even if we don't get Fallout 4, I'm pretty hype about the new Doom, and that'll most definitely get a mention at least.

I'd be amazed if Konami's E3 2010 press conference will ever be topped when it comes to blunders.

All that Square Enix talk earlier reminded me how Kingdom Hearts was the reason I wanted a PS2 as a kid.

Konami 2010 was amazing. I was in tears the whole time.
Same thing with Sony 06.
