Ohhh, thanks for posting! Been looking forward to this since I heard about it.

The trailer implies giant units and flying units, I wonder how that's going to work with the Total War engine? A lot of potential for some cool and very new things in this game. Not to mention magic! This is probably going to play very differently from anything they've made before.

I really can't wait to see some in-game stuff and get more news.
I wonder if there will be more factions? I know there are at least 'Scaven' and 'Lizard Men' that could be added also.

Oh my... Well hello!

In the trailer they didn't mention any Elves, (High, Night or Wood) which would all be separate factions and I would expect at least one of them to be playable.

I would hope any faction that's in the game will be playable, as is the case for most TW games (I'm sure there will be buckets of DLC, but I'll complain about that when it happens).

I'm also excited that we'll see a map that isn't Europe! I know we got it for TW: Shogun 2, but still... having a map that's completely fictional will be interesting. I wonder if they can even make some kind of random map generator for campaigns since they aren't constricted to any real-world locations (I'm not sure if WH has already defined locations and geography)

Actually I've just read that they've announced it will a trilogy of stand alone games spanning the whole WH fantasy lore and probably all factions by the end. It's a good time to announce this as WH Fantasy setting has actually recently come to an end. (A pretty grim one.)

Yeahhh about that. The Warhammer world map is very similar to the real world map.

Wait, it's finished already? I remember reading earlier this year that they had "The End Times" as the current setting, but didn't think it was actually done.

I wonder if this means there's a reboot coming for the game & lore? I know 40k is more popular, but I'd be surprised if they just discontinued the fantasy altogether.

As for the game itself, interesting that it's a trilogy. It did look more story focused than most TW trailers. I wonder if it's going to be heavy single player with a story mode rather than just grand campaigns?

Aw, I figured it would be something like that. Oh well, at least it'll be different rivers/provinces etc in the finer details.

Does it use the Warscape engine?

@Mademan tbh I don't follow the series closely, but I have friends that do and so I know quite a bit about it. I believe the ending has already happened, and basically what happens is (spoiler)
Chaos, the thing that turns the guy evil in the trailer, wins. corrupting the entire planet. Lizard men escape the planet, though a portal or something before the end times.
That said, the best thing about TW is if you really want you can have the Gauls take out over Roman Empire... It's about creating your own history. So if they stick with that, which I really hope they do, hopefully you can create your own ending.

@Pao, unknown so far... I'm going to speculate that it is WarScape as its been in development for a good while.

Thanks for the info, I wonder what happens to the game now?

Either way, I hope it doesn't use Warscape, that engine has some issues. I'm hoping they've taken feedback on board from Rome at least. It seems like they have started to address it with Attila so fingers crossed. This really could be very, very different from TW as we know it though.

I believe it is going to be an improved/revised version of the Attila engine so yeah it'll be Warscape.

Races available: Greenskins, The Empire, Dwarfs and Vampire Counts.

Response given:
Quote
The races in Warhammer are massively different in variation and content compared to factions we’ve depicted in our games before. Given the huge variety in creatures, characters and machines in the Warhammer world, we’ve decided to go deep rather than wide. We’ll be putting as much unit and content variation as we can into the main game to best represent the incredibly detailed races we’ve chosen first. To compare, ATTILA has 6 model skeletons underlying all the units used in the game (human, horse, elephant, dog, etc). In Total War: WARHAMMER, there’s 24 in the first game alone, each representing a different creature or machine type.

No Chaos in base is downright heretical.

And yes, Warscape is still in

Watch Chaos be some kind of 'Realm Divide' mechanic.

Fuck.

Also, which factions are you guys thinking of using? I think I'd start with Empire, since they are probably the most relatively normal to transition to, but Dwarves and Vampire dudes might be really cool. Fuck Orcs.

Definitely Empire for me. Imperial Witch hunters are by far one of my most favorite people.

Otherwise I would have gone for the Skaven first, but CA is being cockblocky and I haz many sads.
