I still love Sonic Adventure, but will admit it does not hold up well, especially with the ports.  I stand by my statement that the game was a Dreamcast classic.

I've been watching an LP of Sonic Adventure, and a lot of the commentary is 'lol this game is so bad' but every now and then they interject with 'At the time this was phenomenal' or 'this holds up okay'.

And everyone bashes Big the Cat, but I had fun with those fishing segments. I can understand people not enjoying it, but I actually really liked the crazy variations in gameplay.

Let me guess, Two Best Friends/Super Best Friends?

Yup. Matt keeps bashing the shit out of the game and laughing at how bad cutscenes and glitches are. Liam defends it saying that it's still a good game and holds up for the most part and that at the time it was phenomenal. Woolie is kind of just along for the ride.

They did make a good point when they said 'You realise Metal Gear Solid came out BEFORE this game, right?' in regards to the cutscenes being great for the time.

I was dying when they mentioned Sonic pulling Froggy out of Chaos and then crushing him a-la Raiden with Electrolytes from MGR.

Sonic Adventure is an all time Dreamcast classic. Playing the DX versions make the game seem inconsistent, because of the updated character models and some textures being clearer than others.

On the Dreamcast everything was as it was, and it was great. Even the gameplay is tweaked for Dreamcast controls, so the gameplay on the Dreamcast is much more fluid

haven't watched the playthrough myself but eh, I'm not surprised with Matt, then again I'm not too fond of him...though yea I wouldn't say the cutscenes were that great, especially when SEGA/Sonic Team made little effort with the voice acting (Deem Bristow was the best of the bunch).

That Froggy joke reminds me of their 06 video when they were at the Cerebus boss and made a remark about the boss looking like something Hideki Kamiya might have done/ripped off or something to that effect.

My three favourite Sonic games are probably Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic Adventure (admittedly based on nostalgia and the way I felt playing it with my pals.) and Sonic Colours... Honourably mentions; Sonic 3+k, Sonic Rush, Sonic Generations.

Some of the stuff was cheesy even when it came out. But honestly what platformer had that amount of voices and did it better? Sure, Metal Gear Solid came out a year prior, but that's a acceptation to the rule of bad early voice acting (tho it still had some bad VA work).

Personally always find Mario having a stereotypical Italian accent to be so cringey, the worse part is that they still think its OK to have it.

Fair point, I'm just recalling comments made by Ryan Drummond, who was describing the voice acting process of Sonic Adventure, they (or at least the casting director) pretty much had them do it one take with no context.  But really, it is no worse than other voice acting work that came out at that time (I guess whatever fits their narrative).

Speaking of stereotypical accents, boy MGS had them with Naomi and Mei Ling...I think they were phased out when Kojima wanted to come off less cheesy.

Yeah, specifically Mei Ling was really bad. I replaced the game again a few years ago and I didn't remember her being so... stereotypical Chinese.

Looks like Jun Senoue got a new Shadow themed guitar. Doesn't necessarily mean anything, but SEGA Japan doesn't make him guitars for no reason. They could of made it because it's the 10th anniversary of Shadow the Hedgehog this year!

still think Shadow the Hedgehog would be a much better game without gunplay and more streamlined levels.

You mean if Shadow had played like Sonic Colours or Generations? Basically Sonic but with Shadow... Would have been totally down for that!

Running like a madman and shooting everything in sight is pretty awesome
