The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog has officially crossed one million downloads

For those unfamiliar, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is a murder mystery/visual novel game that surprise launched on Steam just before April Fools' Day 2023.
In the game, which is free, it is Amy Rose's birthday and she's hosting a murder mystery party that has Sonic becoming the victim. However, things quickly start feeling a bit strange.
It's then your job, as a new character, to interrogate Sonic's friends and try to get to the bottom of this mystery on the train known as the Mirage Express.

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog is the top-rated Sega game ever on Steam

Steam actually has two separate trackers and they have their own ways of weighing reviews, though both still place the game within the top 100.

SteamDB currently has The Murder Of Sonic The Hedgehog in 61st place overall, higher than any other Sega game.

Steam250, on the other hand, charts it at 98th place at the time of writing.
Still higher than the rest of the Sonic series (in fact, no other Sonic game sits in the top 250), but below the likes of Persona 5 Royal (93rd place) and Persona 4 Golden (65th place).
Although it’s debatable whether Atlus’ stuff should be considered seperately.

Depended on how busy the Sonic's Social Media Marketing team is.
Besides creating a short game like this versus a long one that could stand up to other Sonic games took different amount of time, manpower, and budget.

Well after how successful TMoStH was for just a one-off joke game, they maybe encouraged by Sega to make more.

At least after pandemic (pachinko and pachislot took a big hit during pandemic), they're focusing a lot on video games again.

I guess the one good thing that came out from all of that.

Well, I do find Hero-Ki a rather.. questionable choice of Sonic association.
I mean, if it was me, I would of made Hero-Ki the Scout/Tracer of the team. Or the very least make him like Sonic Man who I imagine is an athletic human who is trying too hard to be a hero at the cost of his safety and well being.

To be fair, it's unfair to compare this game to say, Sonic Frontiers or Sonic Generations given you have to pay for those games and this TMoStH is suppose to be a fun yet easy time-killer of a game.

Don't get me wrong, I would love sequels to the game, especially if they're willing to beef it out a bit, such as Layton-style puzzles or something of the like.

I'm surprise they allowed someone dressed as Sonic gunning down officers from behind like that.

Douglas Einar Olsen who work on storyboards for the first two Sonic movies will work on the Knuckles TV show according to his website

Douglas Einar Olsen is an American Director, Storyboard Artist and Art Director with over 10 years experience in the TV Animation and Film Industries. 
Recent directing credits include Rick and Morty, Fairfax, Major Lazer, Axe Cop, Golan the Insatiable and the independently produced hit music video, 'Professional Rapper' by Lil Dicky [feat. Snoop Dogg].  Storyboard credits include feature films Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 and Venture Bros.  He also contributes as a lecturer, educator and curator for the experimental animation screening series, PROTOZOA.
Raised in Smithtown NY, Douglas studied under local illustrator and educator Jeffery K Fisher before going on to attend the Rhode Island School of Design (Illustration '04).  He continued his studies abroad in Rome, Tuscany and Berlin.
Currently he is based in Los Angeles, CA.
