Classic Sonic May Be Here To Stay, According to Interview

Quote
Gaming magazine Retro Gamer released a Sonic 30th Anniversary themed issue last July, and in it contains some interesting nuggets of information on the history of Sonic, as well as some hints towards what’s next for the blue blur.
In the interview, Sonic Team leader Takashi Iizuka stated that after a successful run with Sonic Generations and most recently Sonic Mania, Classic Sonic would hopefully continue to be featured in the future.

Classic Sonic in Generations was suppose to be a one-off and Sonic Mania was suppose to be his own game. And by Sonic Forces fans have made it quite clear they feel Classic Sonic has overstayed his welcome.

If Classic Sonic (as well as Green Hill Zone) has non-canon cameo apperances in later Sonic games then sure, that's fine. But Classic Sonic is suppose to be Sonic's past and the past should remain the past. It goes against the "keep moving for4ward" attitude the whole series has had. We're not Super Mario fans, we don't get nostalgia-high over every time World 1-1 or N64 castle get's a remake.

Yeah, Classic Sonic is suppose to be Sonic's past, we supposed to be moving on.
But after Sonic Mania's success (both in sales and reviews), I can't blame them if they decided him to stay.

Sonic Mania is so popular not because Classic Sonic was in the game, but because the whole game is suppose to emulate the Classic-era of Sonic games right down to the 16-bit (well, more 32-bit) graphics. Although Classic Sonic's inclusion to the game would of been necessary.
As for his involvement in Sonic Forces, everyone thought he was redundant by then and had enough of Classic Sonic being involved in so many things.

But typical Sega-neurotypical fashion they respond to what they see than what it is.

Still if there's a new game or cameo in other game, be it's classic or modern Sonic, I'd welcome any of it regardless.
Just don't force it to have both of them in the same game like Sonic Forces again.

Interview: VGM Composer Tee Lopes Talks about Sonic, Streets Of Rage, etc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQFXa5YeZHw

Quote
"When I joined the SOR4 project, Olivier Deriviere and the other composers involved had already taken liberties that redefined SOR music, using more modern and even acoustic elements which were impossible to recreate on a Sega Genesis, so I continued further down that path by adding even more outlandish features; heavy metal, trap, dub, jungle and other elements we hadn’t heard in a Streets of Rage game before.
I took lots of inspiration from classic SOR music, but also from old movies, modern music and pop culture media."

I'm surprised there are dialogues in this series.
I though it was gonna be like Sonic Mania Adventure or Team Sonic Racing Overdrive.

Kinda wish there was no dialogue in it. That jade wisp crying as it retells the traumatic experiance it had and Sonic is bored and asking it to add in jokes and car chases.

When Sonic Colours first came out, I thought the game made Sonic more obnoxious than before. If Sonic Colours: Ultimate would have him at his most obnoxious then I won't buy it.

This one I'm 100% agree.
As for me Sonic Mania Adventure, Team Sonic Racing Overdrive, and Chao in Space have a charm because there was no dialogue on them.
Kinda like watching old Disney's cartoon.

(Forums so slow, by the time the page loaded up it logged me out! Had to log back in again.)

While Sonic has always had an attitude they may make him come off as snarky and impatient at times he was never the sort to come off as rude to others. And that whenever he is aware there are others upset or in tears then his more compassionate side will show where he will listen to what's upsetting them and will do what he can to help them, wanting others just to be as happy and as easy as he got it in life.

While Sonic Colours Sonic is still willing to save the wisps, it feels he's doing it more for the glory and for the thrill of it... I mean yeah, that's a quality I like about him but it's not something Sonic prioritizes in when it comes to crisis. He knows he can do this, he has confidence but that doesn't mean he should be an arrogant prick about it. He's like those obnoxious YouTubers, the sort that have made millions off YouTube and use that money to go places, buy fancy things and  ostupid stuff because the personality they developed for their adult life consist of "likes and subscribes".

To sum it up, here is a comparison between the most memorable cutscene in Unleashed with the most memorable cutscene in Colours.

Practically a far cry from one another.
