One of my pre-movie theories was that there was actually two Master Emeralds and that Longclaw may have tried to steal the echidna's Master Emerald only to accidentally cause it to break into seven fragments. And that each of those fragments turned into pure chaos energy and bonded with seven newborn mobians, causing them to mutate a specific colour. And that either SOnic 2 or a later movie the Chaos Emeralds would of manifested from the fragments Sonic and his friends carried. Sonic 2 however disprooven this theory. But it still didn't say if Longclaw survived or her true intentions.
Still I doubt Longclaw would return in the movie since I'm sure the third movie will be focused on ... uh ... the character from the mid credit scene.
She could returns in Knuckles TV series though.
Yeah. I doubt Dr. Eggman would run for president. Dr. Starline a maybe.

That's fair. I mean I've alreayd played these games a dozen times throughout my life so even if I don't get a little something more for owning the roms it's still nice to have the remakes.
The problem is SEGA would delist the rom versions.
This would make all mods from fan community dissapeared too.

And here I thought Nintendo would use all their resources to keep Mario as the Mickey Mouse of the video game industry, especially above Sonic. But the fact Mario didn't even make it to the top three, that's something I never thought I'd see.
One of the key here is internet search traffic.
Story-wise, there isn't anything interesting about Mario's storyline, so I understand people searching Sonic more for Sonic's storyline.
Also may be movies do have role on it to make people searching information about them.
The first three have appeared in the theatre.
Sonic in Sonic The Hedgehog, Pikachu in Detective Pikachu, and Pac-Man in PIXELS.
If that's really a factor, when Mario movie is released, he might surpass Pikachu and Pac-Man.
