There is, at the very least a new Sonic game in the works. Just chill out.
Yep game is going to be mad awesome, serious development cycle and Sonic Team reigned in.
It's great the Playstation 4 is keeping consoles relevant, cause both the Xbox One and Wii U are bringing the side down. Saying that the PC market has become a worthwhile market for Sonic too (500,000 sales for Sonic Generations there.) so the future was always bright for the franchise.
Honestly I think "cult following" might even be too generous, I'd actually nearly forgotten that it existed until it was brought up here. I think Vanquish fits far more in with the "cult following" label. I'm about 90% sure that the announcement of a Vanquish sequel would drum up far more excitement than a BD sequel, though I could be wrong.
Ben I don't think you know what cult following is if you think it matters on the size of the fanbase haha.
(Besides you didn't like the game so it's understandable why you forgot it existed.)
Also he's talking about 10 years plus of games, Lost World and Sonic 06 exist in that time frame alone.
I don't have a problem with SEGA going after the mobile market, It's just a market I have no interest in so I won't be playing their games on it. It seems to me though, that they're going to have less teams working on console/ PC games, but better quality. If so, I'm fine with that.
The thing people always overlook when they talk about teams is that they want Overworks, Hitmaker et all to return when in this day and age that's impossible. Most of these dev teams were about 50 people and now one Sonic or Yakuza game takes up between 80 to 150+ staff. So its only natural they have less team.
