It boggles the mind how the hell can anyone be invested in a fucking IGN list. Or any gaming list written by some mid 20, journalist wanna be hack intern who didn't play even half of the list he just randomly chose.

So, I'll just reiterate. Who cares.

Seconded that. A Millennial wanna be journalist(like the one that's now in charge of TSSZ News) wouldn't know a memorable and classic game if it hit him in his face. Its obvious he just googled them and read what others said before about these titles. It's clear he hasn't even played half of them and would probably suck at them anyway.(Its amazing how many young gamers I've seen that really suck at playing Super Mario Bros. 3, which is why most of them claim Mario 3. is overrated.)

Let's not blame IGN article on the persons age, because it's not. It's all about clicks / ad revenue. The list is chosen on what  they think will bring more clicks.
yeah IGN sucks, but you know what? Every fucking general gaming news site sucks. They all piss me off.

Anybody know of a good one? This is a serious question.
Try Gematsu, Siliconera and/or Nichegamer.

Conflicting emotions.

While I think the IGN bashing here is a little extreme, I agree that it's a little weird not to see at least one Sega game in there.

I find that a little crazy, though I also don't know how these things are voted for or what the procedure is.

But then maybe I should just accept the fact that it's possible that people who are becoming gamers (and gaming journalists) a few years after us... might not be as much aware of Sega as we are.

Obviously we've all dug Sega over the years. But the fact is, with Sega further and further scaling back their exposure over the years, it's becoming a possibility that the generations following us won't really know about them at all.

This is pretty much where I'm at reading this list.  I don't give a rat's ass about IGN but the fact that in a list of 100 games not a single one is a Sega title, even I found that a bit off putting.  I just think people aren't going to go out of their way to even remember them if they don't put out very memorable titles today.  They grow more irrelevant by the year and I wish they'd do something about it.  Anything.

Nah, screw IGN. This is not the first time they've snubbed or outright insulted Sega, while constantly displaying Nintendo fanboyism. I'm done with them.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

IGN have been trolling the entire industry for years by calling themselves part of the games media.

Honestly though, I can't remember the last time I actually bothered going on the "big" sites for game news.

And yet they are aware enough to remember Oregon Trial or Galaga. I doubt it has anything to do with relevance of the company and more to do with a specific person's tastes. After all Contra made the list which hasn't been relevant in decades and Konami a little less relevant than SEGA these days too.

Fuck this. Let's make our own top 100! I'll start working on it

These are the top 5.

5. Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master
4. Outrun 2
3. Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown
2. Sonic the Hedgehog 2
1. Yakuza 5

If you guys seriously want to do a top 100 SEGA games, I'm up for it. I know forums I've frequented in the past had a system to determine top 100s of things as a forum game. I'll research it and if anybody has ideas let me know.

Hey, that sounds like fun! I remember this one forum had a thread in which people signed up to decide a final top 10 games list. The original list was pre-made, and the game runner (in this case a forum admin) individually messaged the participants. Each person could do one of two things: change a game's position on the list, or replace one game with another. Explanations for changes were encouraged, but not required, and explanations could be as elaborate as an essay or as simple as "game x sucks lol."

I think that concept would work out pretty well for a "best SEGA games" forum list.

Second. I'm on board too. Sega games themselves don't get much honorable mentions. So a Top 100 list would be a fantastic idea!

Bashing is justified. Not a single SEGA game? Ign is a joke.

Maybe not many of the writers currently writing for the site are big Sega fans. Should they have voted for Sega games anyway just because they think that it's expected of them?

^Not saying that this is or isn't the case. Again, I don't know how these things are actually voted for or what goes into it. Either way, I generally think putting too much thought into lists like this is kinda....eh. It's just an opinion. Everyone has their own opinions on games. I'm sure if I'd made a list of my top 100 there'd be some people looking at it like "What? Killer 7? What the shit is he on?" =p
