Apparently it's now called Rez Infinite. The onstage player removed his VR visor to reveal it was... Mizuguchi-san. It includes an all-new area. If you don't have VR, it's also been remastered to true 1080p/60fps.

It's a very very old, obscure rail shooter that was ported to PS2 and Xbox back in 2002.

Rez sounds like the perfect game for VR. I do wonder how such a seizure inducing game is gonna be with VR. Maybe its not that bad like people thought about 3D destroying eyesight at first, in the end the nintendo 3ds' 3D has always been on here and have had no issues.

The Morpheus has yet to be priced. It's not going to be exactly cheap.

Yeah that also. I wasnt convinced about VR, but the sony key note on right now kind ruined any potential for me buying one unless its cheap. In other words very unlikely

It came out 2001 and is a cult hit among core gamers

If if is anything like REZ HD, SEGA still owned the IP but they licensed it out to Mizuguchi like they are doing with Shenmue 3.

REZ HD didn't have Sega on it at all? Good to know, thanks!

It did, to an extent. The title Screen has 'SEGA(tm)' and of course the end credits. Basically it's SEGA's IP and SEGA will probably see some profits from it... Just like Shenmue 3 and Bayonetta 2. But they are not against allowing the original creators to invest further in their work even if SEGA are not strictly interested in doing so, inhouse. Personally I think it's a pro, not a con and a very admirable thing for SEGA to do.

Though actually this may actually be a SEGA published game, we don't know the details.

In the PlayStation blog, Tetsuya Mizuguchi mentions "Sega Rally Special Stage". What is known about him? I find nothing about it.

Mizuguchi says:

"When I started working at Sega in the 1990s, I got involved in some arcade game VR projects like “Virtuality” and “Sega Rally Special Stage.” VR in those days was bulky, blurry, and slow. It was clear the technology wasn’t ready yet, but even that small taste had me dreaming of what might someday be possible."
