Added shadow Gangs and changed date of hover, something strange just happened, I was searching for an image of Shadow Gangs for the post when I noticed that my phone no longer allows me to copy image urls, wtf!!! Might have to do this on my pc later on then.

The TakeOver. A beat em up inspired by Streets of Rage and Final Fight, being developed as a side-project by Pelikan13 (the developer behind 90s Arcade Racer). It's currently in Steam Early Access.

I guess this sort of counts? Valve's VR minigame collection, The Lab, has a fake arcade cabinet for one of the minigames called Xortex. The actual game isn't much like Zaxxon, but the arcade cabinet certainly is:
