Wow, the average tuition for state-owned public colleges in Portugal is roughly 800/950 GBP/EUR year. However, the real cost of a student in said public college is roughly 2.500/3000 GBP/EUR per year, so about 75% is supported by tax payer money.
That's what's been pissing a lot of people off in Portugal, mainly because the current goverment, whom our PM makes Tony Blair look like Margeret Thatcher, has dumbed down education for one nasty reason:
To statiscally improve school drop-out percentages by dumbding down education so much that nobody flunks;
Which in turn results into colleges getting filled with people who, despite their best intentions, don't have the stomach or simply don't have the capacity to actually go through college.
Hopefully, this isn't the real issue with British colleges.
