Just checked out Sega Uranus's 'The Sega Source' and I've got to say it... needs to find it's own niche. As it stands it's like everything already posted on SegaNerds and SegaBits with a smattering of Junkyard/Memories reviews and Sega history highlights.

I wish them the best of luck with it but... I can't see myself visiting it often. Now if the blog focused on the star employees and divisions, THAT I'd visit often.

like: 'Sega Legacy' focusing more on the business aspect, or highlighting Sega devs and their impact on the industry.

What I and the staff set off to achieve is a more robotic, factual approach than most gaming sites do, like Joystiq or Kotaku. Notice how they make jokes constantly or drop names or references most non-gamers will not understand? Not only will the industry never be taken seriously with crap like that, but not explaining some of their references will just confuse non-gamers or anyone really trying to get into them and might put them off the medium entirely, in the worst case scenario. It does not help that most "Gaming blogs" look very nerdy and childish, this can be embarrassing and annoying even for huge gamers.

I am not out to say we are better than anyone else, but we just have different concepts and plans than most have. We will be updating every Friday with very detailed reviews (which we try to not make too long... my Bayonetta review for SEGAbits is a good example for something that is too long) and every Sunday we will have a biography or just a general history lesson of sorts that can be about just about anything in SEGA's past. I think you are missing the point if you want me to focus on the "Stars" of the company, a big reason I made the site was to hopefully help people understand and respect SEGA for the truly advanced and revolutionary company they are. Everyone knows about Yu Suzuki now, but how many know about Makoto Uchida? Sure, a few of his games are of questionable quality, but that is not the point. He is part of SEGA just the same.

Sorry if that came off as rant-ish. I just want to get my point around. I am very excited about what we want to do and hope you will enjoy it more as time passes. I appreciate the constructive criticism, I really do.

I getcha now. :) I didn't mean to come off as an asshole, I was just typing my thoughts on the site from a Sega fan perspective. Of course, you already noted that you knew that, so I just typed that I know that you knew I knew... y'know?

As far as the "robotic, factual approach", I wish you the best of luck! It's a tricky line to walk, go too far and you come off as snobbish, while another extreme would be too robotic (people partially read for some personality and commentary).

Take TSSZ, for example, they are a shitty shit site. The owner treats each article like it's the 10 o'clock news and even goes to far as to bash other sites. Hardly a friendly place to read and definitely leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

Anywho, looking forward to what you make of the Source. :)

S'all cool, man.

And what I meant by "Robotic and factual" was just explaining everything like a robot would... If you know, they could like do this stuff. I figure most people do not care about jokes when they are reading game news because they are reading game news and not game webcomics.

As for TSSZ, I am well aware of the galaxy of shit they are in, I am going to avoid that as best I can. And for being snobby, the only one like that can muster that up on my staff is Kogen and he only does history articles and reviews anyways.

Tomorrow I have my driving exam. I'm not nervous or anxious or anything. Is this normal? I can potentially run over someone.

I failed because I didn't stop at crosswalks. I blame video games for this.

:( GTA and Sega Rally = not good driving lesson choices.

Robotic isn't a word that I would associate with good journalism.

I would like games writing on a par of Charlie Brooker, I know the Yahtzee guy tries to rip him off but he's not great at it.

This one day I was at the bottom of the sea when a midget came to me and said "HERUULIA!!". Then a mystical sea dragon took me into the Land of Balthazar the God of Sea. A mission awaited me.
