I'm a week into being a blu-ray owner, and I gotta say that I'm loving it!

The good:
+ Picture quality for animation, particularly CG and stop motion, is awesome. I watched Up and the latest Wallace and Gromit short.
+ Menus are slick. Very easy to jump around mid-movie
+ Commentaries are actually fun again! The audio-only got boring after a few years, thankfully they now have video and production art whizzing around the screen as the movie plays. The commentaries for the Clone Wars movie and Terminator Salvation were great.

The bad:
- Things like comedies and independent films are not any better in HD. The $10 HD price hike for stuff like Superbad and The Hangover isn't worth it. I'd prefer buying non-effects driven movies on DVD and simply rent the blu-rays via netflix.
- blu-ray cases still annoy me. The blue usually clashes with the cover art (baby blue does not suit horror movies) and they're an inch shorter than a DVD case. Not a huge problem, but an annoyance nonetheless.
- I'm going to have to get used to loading times. Nothing has exceeded 20 seconds, but it still feels like a long wait when you want to watch something.

I always found the kevin butler character and ads to be really fucking stupid.
A 360 fanboy doesn't like Kevin Butler?

That is truly a shocking revelation.

No, as a tv viewer and gamer I hate kevin butler. The commercials are stupid, sexist and way too "aw snap dawg" internet slang. Also, it doesn't focus on the actual games and hardware, more on stupid jokes about men playing video games and women not understanding how a remote works (lawl, haw haw).

Quit the fanboy accusations, and that goes well beyond this post.

I must not have seen the ads you are talking about, because the earlier ones I saw (probably over a few months old now) were really nice. =P Though I will agree, I was taken aback by the Marcus PSP ads they showed at E3.

However, I still say that you'd hate Kevin Butler just on the basis that he's in Sony ads. If he were advertising for the 360, you'd be trying to find ways to defend any claims of sexism (just like you Sega nerds put up a defense for you-know-who).

Nah, I hate 360's ads when they try to be quirky and funny. Thankfully, they usually just play clips from the game. Give me SEGA ads or give me in-game footage any day.

Yeah, Marcus is pretty lame.

I was at my uncle's place and my five year old cousin was playing on her PS2. I was checking out the games and I grabbed Sonic Mega Collection from the shelf, the only Sega game I saw there. As soon as she noticed, she instantly told me that "Sonic is very cool".

There is hope for mankind.

You're telling me. I was talking to my younger cousins a while back (one is 18, the other is about 15) and one was getting a PS3. I told him he should get Yakuza and was telling him about it and he said.
"Oh that reminds me of this really great game on Xbox, it was awesome. You were in Japan or China and you could talk to everyone and explore everything and do martial arts. It was amazing!"
ME: Do you mean... Shenmue II?
"YEAH! That game, it was the best!"
then the younger one said
"SHenmue!? I loved that game, it was awesome!"

Yakuza 3 was the first game they bought for the PS3  :afroman:

Hey guys I'm back.

I had a quite traumatic vacation with friends.. I kinda end up breakin with my girl and stuff for at least a while. We're gonna be just friends until we sort some things out in our own separate lives.
I had to make some heavy decisions, so I took the opportunity to set some goals in my life and do things in a reasonable way.
I stressed out quite a bit, but had some friends helpin and I got through my problems.

I just need to fill my mind with stuff right now. So I joined a gym, started taking driving lessons and bought lots of furniture at Ikea. I'm redecorating my room.

A lot of change is going on in my life right now and I have not had the time to come here and talk to you guys in a while..

Perfect, just as I was about to start up Resident Evil 5 to play the new downloadable content. I get an error screen saying that my disc is unreadable.

Puzzled I turned the disc around and I see some freaky black blotches on the edge of the disc.

It is probably humidity, which means that Game might not repair it.

I freaked out and made checked all my game discs one by one, they were all fine. Apparentely only Resident Evil 5 was the unlucky one.

I'll check with Game to see if there's anything they can do. If not, I'll buy another copy of the game.

Yep, I'm screwed. My RE 5 copy cannot be fixed.

Just ordered a pre-owned copy off of Gameplay.

^At least Vanilla RE5 should be pretty cheap by now.

I'm drinking Earl Grey tea with Lemon. In a robe and slippers. I feel so British and proper.

Fuck it, double post.

Viruses!

Computer Viruses everywhere!

Bittorent did a number on my Toshiba laptop right now. Downloaded what I thought to be a video to gif editor turned out to be the motherload of worms and trojans.

I'm running this on safe mode, used HighJack This and now I'm running Avira Antivirus. It has already found 19 viruses and I haven't gotten past 25% yet.

Damn...
