Was Sonic Generations any good?
Also Sonic Generations is shit. I say this based on about 5 minutes of gameplay. Everyone else on this forum will say it's great and you should buy it, but they also think Sonic Colours was good, so they clearly have severe mental illnesses.
I thought Sonic Generations was great and I actually didn't like Sonic Colours, the level design felt way too blocky and felt more like a old 2D Mario game. It felt too hard trying to be something it wasn't.
Sonic Generations needs a bit of time to warm up and the first two levels don't paint a great picture for the game. Which is an incredible shame since Chemical Plant Zone was my absolute favourite Sonic level, but once you hit Sky Sanctuary the game actually picks up a lot, the levels are a lot more layered, the gimmicks are pretty damn fun and the care in the product seems to have shoot up.
The downsides are you have to do a classic Sonic missions and a modern Sonic mission each level to unlock the next, most of the time they aren't too bad but it's just retreading the same stage. It also doesn't help that there's more modern Sonic than their is classic Sonic (Personally I would have added in Sonic CD and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as separate games to keep the count more even.) and even though stages like Crisis City and Ocean Palace are really well designed, I don't have much affinity for them. There's some stuff they did with Speed Highway that I thought was a massive shame too (The stage for the most part is still great to playthrough.)
Also the final boss is one of the worst in video game history (Okay maybe not video game, but very poor final boss.)
I still liked it a lot despite it's flaws, a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 game.
