I lost everything...
« on: June 25, 2010, 08:35:27 am »
"Thing" being digital stuff, but damn...

Damn you, "results5.google"! This isn't a normal Trojan, spyware, whatever some hacker in a small, dim lit, smelly apartment. I tried -everything-, then finally resorted to resetting everything, several times, and that didn't do any good, either.
It's a miracle enough I manage to even post here, as it redirects every page to some garbage sites.

After doing some research on it, it seems that it's a recent bug that screwing everyone over, little by little. No programs seem to catch it (AVG, Norton, etc.), thus, finally why my doo doo brain had to reformat and currently trying this program aaaaaaand...... no good :(

I will fix this, but I just had to vent. But, in a way, losing all the songs, pics, and movies that I downloaded kind of made me realize that none of this belonged to me. And, if I can never find them again, then they were never really mine to begin with.
Still sucks, though.

Thanks, man, but get this - all I had to do to access this *one* site that brought me to my knees was not use Google to get there.
...
D'oh!
I still have a lot to fix, but thankfully, it's more-or-less solved.
Always on my vacation, this happens... :P

Don't touch your data for now. Find a second computer with a CD burner.

Download this: http://www.ubuntu.com/

Burn that to a CD and put it on your infected computer. Make sure the computer is booting from the CD drive. You now have a functioning, temporary, operating system. Plug in an external drive and copy your files.

Linux is love.

There's also a Windows that does that, the BartPE.

Also, that is why I hate downloading stuff. I always like to buy my music and games physically (I hate digital content too).
