Yeah. I grew up with Muppet Show, Fragile Rock, and Sesame Street so it's kinda sad to see that they're now considered as a dying art.
My fave Jim Henson TV show was The Storyteller.

Sonic with Paramount, Streets of Rage with Liongate, Shinobi with Paramount... is it normal for corporations to pick multiple studios for adaptions?

Yep, that was good.
Too bad it's never been aired in my country.
I only saw it on youtube.

And they say first impression is everything.

It's the other way around actually.
The movie producers are the one who pick what games they are gonna adapt to the movie and then contact the game company who owns the franchise.
The franchise owners then who decided with yes or no.

I heard it will be getting a remake/reboot. Without John Hurt, I'm curious what direction they will go with it.

I see. Would a shared cinematic universe still be possible? I mean, I guess Spider-Man: No Way Home proves it can be possible.

Probably it will feels like the The Muppets movie after Disney takeover.
While I don't hate them, they still feels kinda different.

That's depended on Paramount and Universal, not SEGA.
Like Captain America: Civil War (which has Sony's Spidey appearance) and Spider-Man: No Way Home are more depended on Disney and Sony, not Marvel Comics.

It's expected for them to use what the modern equipment and SFX on hand, that's understandable. It feels like it's just as expensive for studios to use old fashion or vintage means of filming than it is using computer special effects.
As long as they keep that old world, slightly creepy look the original had.

Well, I hope Sega will at least consider a shared universe.

This would be fit for Sonic ... if he's ever show up in 1993 Super Mario Bros movie.

Goes to show what good make-up and puppetry can do over CGI.
