I no longer have a CRT monitor/tv but I don't care. I bought a copy of House of the Dead and Virtua Cop for Sega Saturn for a measly 50 yen a piece.

I found a couple of official black stunners for 400 yen each but I really didn't want to buy them because they were scuffed up pretty bad.

Honestly, it would totally be worth buying a nice CRT TV for cheap on eBay now to play those gems.

Wow, somebody's up early/late. I usually do the graveyard posting here. Cool to see somebody else online.

When I move in a couple of months to a newer, bigger apartment I'll consider looking for a cheap tv that can handle at  480p so I can play older systems on it exclusively. I really wish there was a way to play lightgun games on an LCD TV but the technologies are completely different.

I love the Sony Wega CRT TVs. I have one in my computer/game room:

Are those plentiful in Japan? If so, I recommend it! Especially the widescreen models.

Most TVs like that are still in people's houses so it's really hard to find them out in the recycle market. It's not impossible, it's just not as common to find anymore. I usually come across crap sets that I'd prefer not to decorate my house with. If I can find a decent phillips, sony, or toshiba set out in the wild, I may snatch it up if I can justify it.

My second hurdle will be justifying purchasing a tube set to my fiance and soon to be wife. She's cool with my game hobby/collection but she also keeps my spending in check.

You'll all be the first to know if I pick up a tube or a crt monitor sometime later this spring/summer. Till then, I'll just have to make do with controller setup only.

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys
Jimi Hendrix - First Rays of the New Rising Sun

During my usual weekend scouring of local recycle shops in my area I came accross some unusual finds.

I found the original Japanese movie programs for Ghost Busters 1 and 2 for real low cheap. 100 for GB1 and 399 for GB2. I'm not sure why the second one cost more but I'm happy never the less.

I also grabbed 4 Saturn games for 50 yen a piece. House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, Lunar Silver Star Story, and Clock Work Knight.

Why can I never ever find any cool stuff in old shops like that.

I decided to give it a shot recently in a St Vinnie's store, but all they had was old VHS tapes and stuff  :|

Final Fantasy XIII. I won't be able to play it until school's done in April, but I wanted a shot at getting into the FFXIV Beta.
