You will also notice something in the map, each province contains a multiple regions. This is something they've talked about before, it results in waaaay less seige battles, and more land battles (because some regions can be occupied with a land battle) Only the province capital should initiate a siege battle.
This is probably the most exciting aspect about R2, siege battles can get repetitive in previous TW games. Less frequent, but more meaningful sieges is the best way to go!
