Title: The 'Stupid Quotes From the Internet' Topic (Sega Edition)
Post by: Sharky on November 20, 2011, 04:53:47 pm
Every so often I see something so dumb I've got to laugh, here is a thread for such idiocy!

Here is a good one I saw today.
Quote
Oh god they better. The story of Sega this generation is of them making a big project HD game that tanks or otherwise underperforms, and then hitting up Nintendo's Mario and Sonic Olympic Sega Welfare Program for essentially a no strings attached grant.

Sega has Nintendo to thank for even being alive at this point.

Thanks Nintendo, thanks.

Sometimes, i see so much shit about SEGA in Neo gaf that my head almost explodes. The funny thing about there is that, they often say that SEGA is shit because is not releasing the games that they want to see SEGA releasing, but they dont have arguments to justify the release. So they are like: "oh yeah, sega is shit, they are not releasing this obscure game from the Genesis that sold 30.000 copies and  nobody remembers! "

And a lot of other things. About the Nintendo Fanboy, this is normal. I read in a nintendo fanboy site   that :“about SEGA and Nintendo, the best for both parts is Nintendo buys SEGA”. Hahaha, i only can laugh.   And he was serious, is not like he was trolling or something.

I laughed at what sharky posted, welfare grant, lol. Guy is probably mad because he cant play the true vision of Sonic Generations "The story of Sega this generation is of them making a big project HD game that tanks or otherwise underperforms" that sentence right there is what makes me think that.

Some spazzy kid replying to SEGA's facebook post announcing a price cut for Samurai Bloodshow:
Quote
SEGA,WAIT!WAIT,WAIT
you cant give up to nintendo,FUCK nintendo and make your own game sytems again. in 1992 to 1998 you took 52% of the gameing market,YOU BEATED NINTENDO, and do you want to know why? because you where so deteminded to beat nintendo and thats why made sonic. you made him one of the most funest games when he first came out.Sonic 1,2,3, SONIC and KUNCLES and sonic cd where the reasons you where so good at the time.now with sonic unleashed, sonic colours and all the FuckING bad Mario and sonic at
the olympic game serise, you have mad a bad impresion of sonic to the new gamers of the 21st century.
Sega you need to act like you used to in 1992. you need to say to nintendo fuck you in the face and make sonic like he used to. give up all that new sonic bull shit and make sonics games as good as befor.
I know sonic generations is comeing out, but i think it will just be the same bullshit as now a days.POST THIS ON YOUR STAUTS AND SHOW THAT SEGA CAN STILL BEAT NINTENDO IF THEY HAVE THAT SAME DETEMINATION AS IN 1992.
if there is one thing sonic from 1992,is that graphics cant make a good game.
-Logan Young

Based on the spelling mistakes, I'd say this kid never even knew SEGA in 1992. "YOU BEATED NINTENDO" made me laugh.

It's even more funny that he uses some of the more well-received titles to make Sonic look bad, lol.

Yeah but what is so funny about it? The fact he wants Sega to be great again and beat everybody's ass? Any blue blooded Sega fan would want to see that. Wait,.. i forget, they kind of a rare thing nowadays.

Exactly I still have my old Yamaguchi doll with needles pinned to the wall in the kitchen. But Sega need to say FU to S*ny and Micro$oft too. But people seem to think Sega making a good Sonic game will be the answer to everything and make them return in making good games again, well they are making good games again just not sonic ones. The real answer is and always has been a return to hardware.

It's funny because it is a long rant filled with misspellings on facebook, which is a reply to SEGA announcing an iOS game. Totally unrelated to whatever this spazzy kid is saying.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for SEGA being great again, but I have to laugh at folks who lose their shit and think SEGA being great = going off the handle and giving the finger to everybody. Really? That's how a company operates? Especially as a publisher, SEGA would be very very stupid to piss off the big three console makers. Also, he seems to consider Sonic Colors a game that gave Sonic a bad rep. Really? And he seems to think Generations will be awful.

I hope this kid isn't the example of a blue blooded SEGA fan. If thats how a blue blooded fan acts, I want to stay far far away from wierdos like that. I'd love to see how he'd write for a blog. lol

Dude, i get the point but really i can't fault the guy's passion regardless of his mistakes. I know you didn't mean to come across as such but it kinda read that you were showing him up for attacking nintendo.

As for sonic, yeah i hope generations will be good and that's alot for me to say considering i've never been a sonic fan. But the reality of seeing sonic in his glory may have past because of the purpose he was originally designed for has now long been defunct.

No, I don't care about his attacks, though I did find them funny in their over aggressiveness.

Generations is good, so we don't have to worry about that.  8)

It's not just at NeoGaf guys. The comment section on Eurogamer.net is filled to the brim with equally mindboggling quotes.

You can read some douchie comments on this article (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-04-12-sega-stamps-on-streets-of-rage-fan-sequel#comments).

Does this just have to include what posters have said, because some websites have come up with ridiculous things as well, like the time when Kotaku actually made Simon Jeffery look good in that statement and come to think of it poorly conducted interview they did a few years back. And they still keep making ignorant statements about Sega.

So many tiring-to-read comments too in the SEGA Official Facebook page,
like commenting with non related-topic complaints for example :
- localization begging for some Japanese-only games (PS Nova),
- port begging for some exclusive games (Tembo for WiiU),
- sequel begging for franchise they loved (SOR 4, Shen Mue 3)
Some wants Dreamcast 2 too.

I think SEGA's Facebook Admin was finally used to it,
they even answer some comments with troll like this one attached :

I always find it funny when they go into long, really serious paragraphs about desicions Sega did decades ago. Like really? None of these people work there anymore, at this point you should probably see the 32X and Mega CD as something quirky rather than a death sentence.

Oh yeah, the thing is none of them understand why stuff lke the SEGA CD or even 32X came about. These kids read about them and said 'Wait, that is not a smart move. Let me go on facebook and tell SEGA what they should have done'.

Yeah, good one dickwad. What do you think will come out of it? Are they sitting in their computer waiting for a SEGA private message asking them to be CEO of SEGA?

I think the most hilarious part about this would be how cliche it is. Before someone piles onto Sega or some Sega product, they love to clarify that they used to be very into Sega until about 04/05. In 2001, people did the same thing. Fan of Sega until 94/95.

By saying you used to be a Sega gamer until this or that, and now I'm going to take a dump on Sega, you're practically giving yourself away as a 15 year old nintendo fan without a clue as to what you're on about. It's a virtual shibboleth.

Yeah.  I find it weird how the Sega forums protect the trolls.  I remember a long  time member kept harassing me through pms due to disagreeing with him and showing him facts on trends (he suggested that there was no way the ps3 at the time could comeback and outsell the 360). Yeah he never got a warning for using worse language than what's you did and privately harassing me.

Seems like the mods are more than OK to protect idiots.

It's understandable why SEGA Forums gives out warnings for anything that could possibly resemble insulting someone. They are a big company forum and it would reflect badly on them if they didn't. Of course no one is perfect, everyone is human and makes mistakes. In the case of people saying bad things about SEGA, usually best just to ignore them, no matter what you say you aren't going to change their minds. They've made their mind up a long time ago. Not worth the energy or possible warning. Just let them continue to be ignorant if you are sick of being nice to them.

Right here! You probably haven't noticed me because I've changed a lot compared to how I used to be when I was younger. Definitely embarrassed by posts I've made from years ago, but I'm sure most people are in regards to their past =)

What matters is that people eventually realize how silly they were acting and learn from their mistakes and grow as a person.

32x, I agree was a bad idea with a low number of games released for it. The idea was to upgrade a last generation console and extend its life, the issue is that the SEGA Genesis didn't need either units and technically would have been better off skipping the Game Gear, 32x, Nomad, and CD; while focusing its pure attention on Genesis.

The issue (not counting the 32x) is that everything they released was to challenge competitors.

And that why it was such a silly idea to bring the system out .The  Mega Drive successor was ready to go in 1994/5 . They was no need to try and extend the MD life at that point and it being a Cart system was also a backward step .

OK  lol :) But SEGA Japan screwed up with no Sonic game in development early in for the Saturn and I guess SEGA Japan could have done more to try and win Squaresoft , which would have killed the PS in Japan

I think a SEGA 100% behind the Saturn and with a proper Sonic Team Sonic game early in would have made SEGA a strong number 2 in those days and put them ahead of the Nintendo.

Maybe Nintendo but not Sony. Sadly the Saturn's 3D was meh, only few developers could make it shine and the top tier developer being AM2.

No the 3D wasn't mech at all . Polygon wise the Saturn wasn't that that far behind the PS and no more behind the N64 . It was more the lighting and transparent effects that let the Saturn down. You didn't have to be a top tier developer to make the Saturn sing you just had to use the system and no try and use C code on the system and had to use assembly - Saturn was very much like the 360 and PS3 trying to use 360 on the PS3 just produced rubbish results and you had to use the PS3 system and not try and share too much code.

Sadly the Saturn never had the market share outside of Japan to make it worthwhile for most 3rd parties to really use the system .

Yeah exactly, transparencies where really bad on Saturn and I consider that part of the 3D capabilities of the console. Example: Playstation 3 also had bad shadows (blocky).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Quk5cvHcl4k

Saturn 3D had a weird low resolution and blocky poly look. Hard to put my finger on it.

Well the Saturn could handle beter transparent effects than the PS- When it was using the VDP II plane (see the PS versions of TF V and Grandia, Souky Ect) but it the trouble was the plane was only 2D . Model 2 didn't handle or support 3D transparent effects you know and like the Saturn only worked in quads - You think the think the PS was better than Model 2 board ?

Fair, but if everyone who claims to have once been a Sega fan had actually been a fan and bought Sega games, then Sega would still be making consoles, and we'd be wondering where Shenmue 16 is. It's a trope.
