Speaking of big monsters, I wonder how those are going to be implemented. I mean, will a group of soldiers surround it and start hacking at it like elephants in the old Total War games? Will it have a 'life meter' or something? I hope it's kind of like in Rome, where you could send a bunch of guys to fight it, and every now and then it'll just fling a bunch of them away with a big attack while the rest keep trying to hack it down.

Well Relic and CA were said to be co-oping several times after purchase of the former, so maybe CA may adopt a sort of Dawn of war approach for larger enemies with Relic maybe having some input in the background?

It's not 40K but similar concepts would apply, just on a much larger scale.

Not having played Dawn of War, how did that work?

Elite unit usually has a variety of skills available to it on top of large health and good damage. Standard by most means.
If you were good enough you got access to an ultimate unit which basically wrecks everything until it is killed.

For imperial guard it was baneblade
For Eldar it was Avatar of Khane
For chaos I think it depended on which leader you picked.
so on so forth
