Some PS3 Questions
« on: July 01, 2011, 06:00:28 am »
Where are the trophies? As in where can I go to view all the games I've played and the trophies I've obtained for them?

Is a PS3 User ID and PSN ID Separate?
In my 360 you can make an XB Live Account, which you use to play online as well as save all your game records (acheivements/games played and so on).
Then you have a local User ID which saves everything, but it is offline.

The Live ID functions as offline and online - records everything where as the offline one is fairly useless.

Now my question is, is the PSN ID separate from the Log In ID?
Can the Log in ID be converted into a PSN ID?

Am I just used to it or the 360's dashboard is more user friendly?

They're off to the far right of the XMB, on your user card. Or you can go to the games bar, and the trophy list is two up from whatever game you have in the drive.

The PSN ID is if you have a PSN account, but you can have a PS3 user id that isn't linked up to the PSN. They're usually the same thing though.

The log in id mainly has to do with your gamesaves, but if you've got a PSN id, it's going to be attached to a single log in id. The PSN id keeps track of trophies, and store purchases.

What I'm going to do is basically register for PSN via PC.

Make a PS3 User ID, and link the PSN ID with it.

I found the trophies, the way they are shown is quite meh, 360 showed them better.

You can tell the trophies was a forced feature that was added in late. The worst part is how you have to sync them. I am sure Vita and PlayStation 4 will not have issues like this.

I think you should make your online account through the console instead though. Just to be cautious.

It's pretty easy to link up the accounts, but it does make more sense for you to do it through the console first.

Yeah I hate the way the PS3 shows trophies and that you have to sync them :|. I personally registered my PSN account online and then logged in with it on the PS3 - actually I created my PSN ID before the PS3 was even released. My partner also did the same, who for some reason has two PSN accounts - both done on the PC.

Only reason to sign up via a console (imo) is if it's an Xbox 360 and you get a month's gold for doing so - don't get it if done via a PC. And of course, the PS3 doesn't have that problem lol.
