After playing a lot of the campaign, I can say I'm pretty damn disappointed...
Not because of the bugs/AI/unoptimization that reviewers are talking about, but because of many weird design choices they included, and features they removed.
"Victory Points": In an attempt to remove camping, they now force you to defend a flag... Which means, as a defender, you cannot position your troops anywhere else. Not on a hill, not near a forest, BUT ON A FLAG! Or else it will be captured and you will lose.
- Turns take AGES: Really really long time. You could make tea while you wait.. I know there are a lot of factions this time, but they should've come up with a solution to cut the waiting time. Boring...Very.
- No Family Trees: A franchise staple, Gone. Now you recruit Generals whenever you want like trivial units.
-Province System didn't deliver: They told me it will lead to more land battles, it didn't. It just lead to more siege battles without walls.
-Music is mediocre: Which is understandable since there is no Jeff Van Dyck, but its really stale.
...Other nagging issues I won't mention.
Man, what a bummer... This had the potential to be the best in the series, but they screwed up, feels very bloated and soulless.
Still no where near a bad game though, its just disappointing for me. I prefer Rome 1/Shogun 2/FoTS by far.
