PS2 is fucking trash hardware.

But a Xbox 360 fan is talking about 'evil' ? Ironic.

Again, lesser of two evils. Plus 360 matches the Dreamcast on a shelf. Bonus points for that.

Errr.. that is like saying the PS3 matches the Saturn. Does not make this issue or the 360's RROD/Disc read errors any better.

NeoGAF says it will fix itself in '24 hours' because its a clock issue with the new clock or something. Stupid BS if you ask me. Sony should have known about this. Bad press ftw.

If Neogaf is correct, it should fix itself in under 5 hours.

The current issues with PS3 is much much worse than disc read error ;)

And yes, were I to own a black Saturn I would feel a little better about perhaps buying a PS3. Too bad they look like a panini press. Is it superficial of me? Of course it is! :D Of course, console manufactures pour millions into aesthetic design, so superficial buyers are clearly on their radar.  8-)

How is waiting 24 hours to play it worse than having to pay 100 dollars to get it fixed?

:/

24 hours has not been confirmed yet, and a warranty can be a current gen console owners best friend. ;)

Internal clock is the issue.

Most PS3 phats started going crazy around the time it hit 12GMT yesterday, the issue will fix itself in about 3-4 hours.  They are going crazy because either Sony made a math mistake, or forgot to program non-leap years into the PS3 phat.  So the PS3 OS is freaking out, and goes to it's default date of December 31st 1999, and that messes up shit like DRM =P, which is why lot's of shit isn't working at the moment.

Basically, the internal PS3 phat clock is saying it's Feb 29th 2010 right now and the PS3 OS is freaking out because it was never programmed for the event to happen.

I doubt Sony will even release a patch right away, they are just waiting for the problem to fix itself.

Dropping the Spider-Man font was the BEST decision Sony made.

I'm concerned that some of you are considering removing the internal battery from your PlayStation 3 system. Please do not do this -you risk damaging your console and voiding your warranty, both of which really are not worth it for the sake of a few hours.

so there you go, all PS3's will be working again in a few hours
