Your Favorite SEGA Boss Battle Music!
« on: July 29, 2011, 04:30:40 pm »
I've often found that some of my favorite pieces from game soundtracks are the boss battles. SEGA has had many great boss battles in their games as well as some excellent music to go with it. In this thread you can post some of your favorite SEGA boss battle music and explain why you like it if you wish. I'll start off. :)

This track from Sonic 3 & Knuckles is one of my favorite pieces of video game music. I just love the tension it makes you feel as well as a sense of hope. It's the final confrontation (unless you have all the Chaos Emeralds) and the music just fits so well in my opinion.

Ecco the Dolphin: Defender of the Future has some truly excellent music, but I would say that the music for the Mutaclone boss is definitely among my top SEGA boss battle music. The theme for Mutaclone is quite grand overall however I feel it also has an element of sadness to it. It's a great theme and it makes a cool boss fight even better.

What I liked a lot about the Sonic 3 final boss music was how it synced up with the last boss in Sonic and Knuckles. During the intro he is stamping towards you as the screen shakes, then the fight starts once the music changes.

For the Ecco one, I am saving it until I actually beat that game. If it is good, then I want to keep it as a surprise.

One I liked was Death Bringer's theme in Golden Axe on Genesis. Here is the SEGA AGES version of it:

I really enjoy how it starts off in a more worrying manner, slowly builds up to being more action orientated, then changes to a more hopeful tone at the latter part. It mimics how you would be playing, starting off unsure then winning around the end.

It also just sounds very good and fits the scene. Death Bringer can do all of the character's spells such as Tyris' dragon attack. Around when this game came out, that dragon sprite breathing fire over the whole screen was one of the best looking things in a video game.

Very cool choice Waffle. :) I also really like that theme.

Here's another one of my favorites.

The theme for Zealous is very powerful and perfectly fits the mood for the boss fight.

Here are two more of my favorites:

The Shining games for the most part have always had great music and this boss theme is probably one of my favorites. I just love the intensity of it.

In my opinion the final boss music for Valkyria Chronicles II tops the original game's final music. It's a fantastic piece!
"Heed the voice of the Valkyrur!" :D
