I love people's reaction to the Yakuza 3 content cut. It just shows there are more crazy people out there in the world then we think we know :afroman:

I don't mind if the cut content was only stuff like hostess bar, but side missions, especially over 9 in the first 4 chapters is stretching it.

I agree, its fucking retarded. I really hate Sega America they find ways to fuck everything up and shit on the fanbase and Segas rep every bloody year.

Those missions work directly into the content that was cut, don't tell me you didn't expect some missions not to be cut out either? Yakuza 1 and 2 even had missions based primary on the host content, like how you had to save one of your hostess from her boyfriend beating her up or had to get certain items for the girls.

Like I said previously, if the hostess clubs were going to be cut, there is a big knock on effect to the whole game.

Why does everyone automatically think this is just down to SOA.  It a lot of cases its not down to cost cutting (otherwise SEGA wouldn't have translated most of the DLC) and its other cuts are made at Rating Board , or more SONY request  .

I really don't know why SOA/E even bothered , it ill get killed in sales, and everyone will moan about Content missing - most of which they wouldn't have the 1st clue about (Jp Quiz) or would have noticed , unless reading about it in the Web .
Rather than Give SEGA credit ,  for even translating the game in the 1st place, after the 1st two games flopped .

And until SEGA Japan sort out Sonic once and for all,  and start to pump out  Better 360 and PS3 next gen productions,  SEGA Rep will be minimal
Though to be fair Sonic Team will surprise  a few imo

The decision was SEGA West, not SEGA of America. We all know that SEGA Europe/America are 'united', right?

It's probably has to do with a large amount of SEGA not even letting people know about content cut from the game. Poor show, that public relations department of theirs.

I wish they would have spent the money it took to work on Resonance of Fate (basically wasted money) to expand on making Yakuza on both HD consoles and profitable outside of Japan.

SEGA really needs to stop or at least heavily slow down their creation of new IPs constantly. The reason Nintendo is doing so good is because they have a good amount of franchises people know and love. Sonic the Hedgehog, Total War, Football Manager, Super Monkey Ball and maybe Virtua Fighter games only is not enough. It was especially a missed chance with Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing to have it be designed more around games out and coming, instead of just stuff SUMO employees like.

I spent waaaay too much time playing Yakuza 3 yesterday, lol. I'm currently in Chapter 4, trying to do as many sub missions as I can to build up experience points.

Tomorrow (in-game), I leave Kiryu's blandy bland domestic life behind, so hooray for that! ^__^

Just having 4 core IPs is more than enough.

But the state of three of those core IPs are not in good health, they must be expanded on further and improved on, this is SEGA's biggest problem. The Mega Drive had a large amount of new IPs designed specifically for the console and it was SEGA's most successful stint.

That was mainly because most of them had multiple outings.

Shining, Ecco the Dolphin, Illusion/General Disney, Shinobi, Streets of Rage,  Sonic the Hedgehog, Monaco GP, Phantasy Star, Golden Axe, and even stuff like Eternal Champions all had multiple and successful releases. I do not think having four main IPs is a very healthy bet for such a large company that constantly throws large amounts of money for such big projects.

That has more to do with how times have changed. A lot of hit video games in the modern age required much more time and money to develop than Golden Axe or Revenge of Shinobi did back in the Sega Genesis days.

But hey, I'm all for SEGA doing some low budget retro styled games on downloadable services, like what Konami is doing with their "Rebirth" series.
